Well all I have to say is that the Vols is on their way down. I am not basing this on the loss tonight and if you think different then I think you are kidding yourself like I have been. After this mediocre year the recruits will fall off even more and the other sec teams that are on the rise will start getting more and more of them. It is just a cycle and it happens to every big team. We started to climb up, we peaked, and now the steady decline.

Cal was not the big game on the schedule. GA, UF, and USC are. Getting blown out in the 1st game is a bad sign.

Anytime a coach has weeks to prepare to play Fulmer, UT has problems.

Or they could just schedule cupcakes to start the season to "work the kinks out" like some teams do. That way we at least have a false sense of hope by evidence of beating up on chumps before we get let down. :D

Great point. I believe our young players learned a helluva lot today by playing a team like Cal instead of going against a cupcake like, let's say, Western Kentucky... A lot of maturing happened today, real fast!!!

Man i don't know what it is you liked about it.But me personally i liked none of it.We couldn't stop the run same as last year.Whats worse is we have gotten worse at tackling from last year.If thats possible.D Bolden is a bust.Mapu is average at best.Where is all this supposed talent.I don't see it .I just don't see it.We are no better than a mid pack sec team thats it.

Relax guys. It's the exact same thing we went through last year after we played you. It's tough playing a top 20 team on the road to start the season, you just have to dig in and believe that your team can rebound. I'm sure you'll bounce back fine.

maybe cal will win the rest of their games. good. but we can rebound and win ours as well. keep your heads up.

It comes down to lack of Defense, and that fact that we can't kick a kickoff past the ten yard line and tackle someone. It's not hard to drive 60 yards when you start on the 40

If there is a bright side, it's that none of the teams we play in the SEC will have more offensive talent or better offensive scheme than Cal. Our defense looked horrendous against them, but they may fair better against teams of lesser talent or scheme.

On the bright side our offense looked good, put up a bunch of points, and executed the no huddle quite well for the first game of the season. If one of the young speedsters doesn't step up however, a good scheme won't be enough to sustain us throughout the year, IMO.

I'd rather do that then start out 0-1.

Yeah our recruiting has really fallen off over the past few years. We are really on a decline. Give me a break. It is one game and we have no idea about the season. Turn off the TV and go root for Michigan.

I would rather us do that, get some game film and make some adjustments, than fly across the country to get a asses spanked.

Yeah, you can joke about playing cupcakes if you want, but it has worked well for Florida for years. We give them a hard time about it, but right now, they are 1-0, and we are 0-1. I'd rather be in their shoes.

And for the guy who said alot of maturing happened tonight, you are kidding yourself.

If we couldn't stop Forsett and Best (not taking a shot at them), I can see why he is scared of the best running back duo in college football.

Whatever, so you are not going to watch another game this season? Good. I wont have to see you come on here and complain.

Well for one...our secondary won't need the help v Arkansas that it did vs Cal. The scheme was created to stop the pass...or at least try and slow it down. Unfortunately we gave up some bigger runs in the process. Arkansas will get theirs, but I think we'll at least be able to make em work for it since they have no receiving threats anywhere near the quality of Cal.
