Memory VolT: Catching up with the man they called 'Cheese'
Austin Price | Volquest writer

Growing up in the Sunshine state of Florida, a young Travis Henry had his own version of dreams, goals and aspirations. After a stellar career at Frostproof High School, Henry would sign with Tennessee, but as a kid he had other ideas.

"When I was young I wanted to go to the NFL and actually I was an Alabama fan," Henry said. "What sold me on Tennessee was a guy like Alvin Harper who is one of the greats to go there and play there. I had a chance to watch and follow his career and I had no idea I was going to fall in love with the University on my official visit."

Achieving that record is impressive on its own, but knowing he did it while running a successful on-campus business endeavor, and procreating an entire conference of future running backs makes it even more so.

Cheese is the man...and the off the field stories make him a legend.

Why does this guy merit any mention? His stellar drug business? His inability to keep his privates in his pants (or even the same woman) for longer than a day?

He is a disgrace to UT, college football and civilized society in general. Next time why not look for someone with some positive redeeming values....................

Glad he had time to sit for an interview in between having to watch 9 different little league games in one day.

Because life isn't all golden streets and cream filled theme parks.

He was a Vol.

It's people like you that don't know how to appreciate what was vs what is.

What I said was with tongue firmly planted in cheek. You're assessment is correct....but he was stellar running back, drugs and his "entertainment" endeavors notwithstanding.

Good read.

While I don't agree morally with Henry's choices. It is a nice reminder to see both him and Travis Stephens come in and not quit when things didn't go there way. College athletes seemingly quit and rarely stick it out. Reading the article and hearing how Henry could have left upon seeing Lewis' freshmen success but didn't is refreshing.

Whatever you think about his family tree, he has certainly stocked the cupboard for our 2020 teams. :D

Still remember when he hurt his neck vs Vandy. A group of 100k fell completely silent. It was a strange feeling

Dear God, relax. Saw the Volquest article on a former Vol on Twitter, just thought I'd share.
