I feel badly for him that one irrational act could have such huge consequences for his career in college and beyond. I'm glad he can't have guns and I'm pleased to read that he apologized to the victim. He is clealry doing all the right things for a guy in his situation.

But I'm really struggling to justify letting him back on the team, even in a year and even if he keeps his nose clean. From what I read here, it sure looks like he's trying to talk the talk. If I were UM, I'd need some major walking of the walk and even then I don't know.

My default setting on this is no way just because it involves firing a gun, in anger.

His final punishment will prolly be having to sit out until the UT game. What harsh punishment the myth hands down. :p

Meyer already announced that he is suspended indefinitely and that it will last at least for a year.

If he cuts that short, as a Gator fan even I will be pretty unhappy.

Bobby Bowden would just have him run a couple of extra wind sprints

So far, it's being handled sufficiently. It would be a showing of no integrity if UM let him play this year--I am sure he won't. But I don't know, if he stays totally out of trouble and does well in school, it may be a good thing for him to get back on the team in a year. Just throwing that out there and leaving my own anti-Florida bias out of it.
