First off I know i'm probably in the wrong forum but who cares.

I am a double legacy at UT, and have always wanted to go to UT, but my dad is a Colonel in the Air Force so my real dream has always been to be a fighter pilot, like him. I am now at the point in my life where I must choose colleges, and the best opportunity for me to be a pilot is the Air Force Academy, I think I will go.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE UT, but this is just more important,

traitor?

Non-issue. You aren't going to be a successful fighter pilot at UT.
You can and should still pull for the football team though.

No. Go to Air Force. You can still root for Tennesee.

No way. You go to the Academy and we'll call you a Patriot.

No way. Go make your dreams happen. Then have a misfire incident over Gainesville.

Thanks guys, the visit to the academy over 9/11 weekend and the BYU football game was overwhelming, I just felt like this is where I wish to focus my life. But on that topic, my dad went through ROTC at UT and was successful enough to fly the F-22 for 3 years, but ALOT has changed since then, much harder.

Absolutely. You should pass up an appointment to Air Force and the magnificent free education that comes with it because you fear what the Orange Overall Brigade will think about your fandom.

Go with your gut, I had a relative go to the Academy and said there were fans from all over.

Just do what you want to do...you can always go to grad school at UT when you're retired from the AF.

Follow your heart, kid. Go to the school that is going to be the best environment for you. Don't choose a school just for their sports team. I grew up a die-hard UT fan, but went to a smaller school because it was a better fit for me. I'm still a die-hard Vol.

I went to UT for a year and then entered to West Point after I re-applied (didn't get in to the Academy the first time), and it was the best decision I ever made.

If you want to be a pilot and serve, you can't go wrong with the AFA. However, ROTC is still an option if that doesn't work out.

I still pull for the Volunteers like they are my family (because they are), so the fact that I attended another institution in order to follow my own dream of being an Army officer didn't change a thing. Follow your instincts and don't look back. You can still be a Volunteer at heart!

I stepped on the field at the Academy in the summer of 98'. Grass was immaculate, about 4' high, thick as carpet. Stadium is small yet comfortable.

Good luck on acceptance to the Academy. Vol fans are everywhere. No shame in having more than 1 favorite team. Being in the AF I pull for the Falcons as well.

Not to mention it is beautiful in Co Springs.

Yeah, but this weekend (Florida) will probably be my last game at Neyland for 5 years unless I go to one in my senior year of high school...Oh well

Air force.

.......that way we can get you to do flyovers at events that really don't require it. Golf, tennis, track and field etc....

Yeah I know the opening of the T is by far the best opener in college football, but something about the 9/11 weekend and the double flyover there ( F15 / F22 ) and the upset of BYU was amazing, even though thats not the reason I want to go. The pregame was special.
