Wondering if this really happened; any eyewitnesses among the VN masses?

The 11-time Canadian champion capped an outstanding career with the University of Tennessee Volunteers by becoming NCAA champion and four-time All-American. Olsen once wowed a Tennessee Vols gridiron crowd of more than 75,000 by throwing a football 100 yards in a half-time demonstration.

Used to work with a guy who played FB at AL when Namath was a Sr. He said that he was just throwing/catching with Namath one day on the practice field and Joe was standing on the 15 yd line and threw a pass to him standing in the opposite end zone, that was a tight spiral all the way. He has long ago retired so not able to confirm but he did tell that story among other stories of Joe's abilities.

I've heard stories about Heath Shuler that said he would put one foot against the wall in the indoor practice field and could hit the wall on the other end. That would be close to a hundred yards if not farther I'd guess.

I've heard/read many stories about Namath's athletic prowess. In a HS Basketball game, his team was behind by 1, and with time running out, Namath dribbled across mid court and calmly sank a 20 footer as time expired. Sports Illustrated article; I think.
