My 11 year old daughter is an Oregon Ducks fan because she loves the gear. She's an Air Force brat and has never lived in Tennessee. Her mom and I will remedy that in due time!

I'm 25 and I think a lot of kids growing up when I did had a lot to hang their hat on seeing as UT won in 98. I think it solidified the loyalty for most of us who are in our 20s now.

Yeah it was probably a lot easier for us youngsters to become Vol fans when they didn't do anything but win throughout most of our childhood. I didn't really understand how bad losing really felt until I was in high school. By then I was in way too deep to turn back.

My son is only 1, but that boy came home in orange and white. Also, i nixed the Mickey mouse birthday theme for a volunteer first birthday. Even had invites that were ticket stubs. I have a cousin in middle school who is a bama fan and his dad (as well as all my extended family) is all vol. He just keeps saying he doesnt know where he went wrong. Poor kid catches hell from all of us, especially me.
Its worth saying that my own dad is a bandwagon bammer. The thing is that he couldnt care less about football and is really only doing it to piss off my brother and me. Mission accomplished dad.

My wife gave me the big hell no to a Vols first bday. So we went with Elmo :-/ said if we did Vols I couldn't go to Talladega. That was it for me

My daughter will be 12 next month and she has loved watching UT football since she was tiny. Took her to her first game when she was 4. My only complaint is she likes the Cowboys. I F'n hate the Dallas Jerrys!!

Awww man that's just mean on her end. Not cool. U should tell her they eat cute little puppies for their pregame meal. That would be up there with my kid liking bama over the Vols.

My 8-year-old boy has been to a few O&W games and a few UT home games.
My 4-year-old boy has been to 2 O&W games and will attend his 2nd UT home game this coming weekend.
My 2-year-old girl will be attending her first O&W game next spring.
They're all young, and they all love UT, and I hope when I'm gone that they'll remember how much fun they had going to UT games with dad as they continue that tradition with their kids.

Both of my kids were born here in Lexington, a 4 year old boy, and a 1 year old girl. There are plenty of bad influences here trying to get them to say "Go Cats". They will never like Kentucky. I may have actually done too good of a job at it. I tried to get him to pull for UK during the UK/Louisville game on Sunday, but he hates them too much now. He pulled for Louisville. Fortunately, I only have another 9 months here before I can get them away from these people.

My 16 year old son and 9 year old daughter are both proud Tennessee fans. I never forced them, they have always just watched and cheered for the Vols.

Where did you get the ticket stub invites? My fiance is looking for UT Ticket Stubs type of idea for invites to our wedding. She showed me the idea and of course I was all for it. But she hasn't been able to find anything yet.

Saw a dad and his son at a sports bar and the dad had on SCar stuff, but the son was wearing Bama gear.

I felt for the man.

I wondered if there were any parents on here with that problem?

Is there a tactic or a certain point in a child's life where you drive it home who to cheer for and why they have to/should?

Birth....both my kids were born in S. Florida. Always have worn orange. Had to explain to the OB why their umbilical cords were orange and not red.

My daughter is three...she will be a Vols fan.

Mississippi State will be acceptable, since both my parents are alum, but she will be a Vols fan first.

My nieces and nephews on my wife's side of the family are Bama fans. The other day my niece tried to get my daughter to say "Roll Tide," my daughter replies "No, my mommy and daddy says that's a bad word."

I was so proud I nearly cried. :)

My daughter is 18 now, I guess the lifelong exposure /indoctrination/oppression worked since she bleeds orange. She's 3rd generation to do so, I'm a proud Big Orange daddy!

Brought my son to work one day and one of the guys here is a big Bama fan and he tried to get my son to say "Roll Tide" and my son turned to him and said "No way!" and then said "Go Tenn Football" I am working on getting him to say "Go Vols" but it always comes out Tenn football.

My 4 yr old is all Vol! He won't leave the house without one of my Vols hats and wants to wear something orange every day. Instead of good night he says go vols and tells anyone who will listen he's going to play football for Tennessee. We live in ga and if he hears anyone say bulldogs or go dogs he tells them that's a bad word we don't say that. The crazy part is I really didn't even have to coach him to do any of this. He knows how much I love the Vols and just wants to be like me. He is AWESOME!

Kids arent as loyal as we were growing up because access to other schools is so much easier now. Cant imagine how someone can grow up in TN & not be a Vol!! Some kids rebel against their parents school...dont get that!!!

In my family Tennessee football is a tradition. If one of my kids roots for any other team I will be demanding a DNA test!

I'm a Vol and son right now is a Gator fan. Hard raising him in enemy territory. Used to push him but realized let time take it's course. He'll grow out of it.

That was me. I even had a UF jersey until I was 8. In 1998 when we beat UF I balled my eyes out for hours. Ever since then I've been a UT fan. Thank the good Lord

My 15 year old son is all-Vol but like most teenagers likes some of the Oregon uni combos. 7 year old daughter is Vol and finishes every Vol football discussion with the phrase "bama stinks."

I changed it about a week before and pretty much said no one had any choice in the matter. My mom was very unhappy but oh well
