Learfield IMG College and the Vol Network have announced a "Vol Network Classics" series of radio programming starting later this week on participating Vol Radio Network affiliates. The vault to the Vol Network's radio archives has been opened to relive some of the great games and moments in the history of Tennessee Athletics. Each week, a different Tennessee football or basketball game will be aired as a live broadcast as it happened.

"Vol Network Classics," presented by the East Tennessee Chevy Dealers and Hullco, debuts with a replay of the 1999 Fiesta Bowl National Championship football game from Jan. 4, 1999, in Tempe, Arizona. The game, the first national championship game of the BCS era, featured the undefeated and No. 1-ranked Volunteers vs. the No. 2-ranked Florida State Seminoles. The game was also the last football radio broadcast featuring Vol Network legends John Ward and Bill Anderson.

The series is planned for a 10-week run this spring. Other planned football broadcasts include, as a sample, the 1986 Sugar Bowl vs. Miami, 1991's "Miracle at South Bend" and the 2001 victory at Florida. Some of the basketball selections include Tennessee's first game vs. Kentucky at Rupp Arena in 1977, the No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup vs. Memphis in 2008 and the 2019 SEC Tournament semifinal classic against Kentucky.

I sure would love to hear the John Ward Radio Broadcast of the 1982 Ut bama game when Tennessee broke the streak. I never got to hear that; on the road and not in VN range.
Here you go...not the whole game and I'm not certain it was the live call. I seem to recall the John Ward would re-do some games after the fact. But it's still pretty good.

Yep this is a re-do; no Bill Anderson . Surely someone somewhere has the original? I asked a radio man just a week after the game if they had recorded it; he said NO. Geeze. This is good but not spontaneous John Ward. Thanks a bunch; at last I get to watch and Listen.

I was stationed at Admistrative Support Unit, Bahrain and told the Postal Clerk UT would Win,They did!

Sounds like Me in 2001 ; Tenn at Uf, I told two Ceramic Tile Reps (Gatas) that Tennessee (huge underdogs , like this 82 bama game) Would beat Florida and they just ROLLED In The Floor!! Well I had listened to Big John Henderson that week saying they were going to Gainesville to Kick Gator Butt, and I just got "THAT FEELING" you know we get when we feel a Win; Or Loss coming. I felt it, and we beat em! The Tile reps NEVER came back to my store! lolololol.

Watched it all the way through. Thrilled me almost as much this time as it did when it happened.

Could you elaborate please ... I would love be able to listen like a podcast.
Go to www.utsports.com and scroll down until you see this picture ....^^^^.... then just click on the arrow. It starts with commercials and eventually gets to John and Bill's broadcast. (Jake Tate posted the schedule and radio stations it could be heard on in post #7 of this thread.)

Thank you for posting this. I turned the radio on in the garage today and worked on my truck, cleaned up my work bench, and just piddled around and really soaked up the broadcast. I can't wait to hear another game next week.

thank you for sharing. I just listened to bits and pieces of the 98 championship. Wow. I had forgotten that we turned the ball over in the red zone / end zone a few times. I think we should have won by a larger margin. Do we know what the classic games will be in advance or will they be surprised each time?
