I do not get the people that want to praise CPF for doing the bare minimum that is expected of this team. Winning the division is, IMO, the bare minimum.
Let Raise the bar just a little!

I think there can be a middle ground here. I'm certainly not praising Fulmer or the team but the team's record is about what I thought it would be given the players we had coming back.

The only big negative for me this season is the blow-out losses.

yeah exactly.. Shouldnt we expect more than just a winning record before handing out raises and extensions?

Dont get me wrong I am glad we won the east but we really should expect a little more.

Interesting commentary in the article about how a raise/extension is a vote of confidence. There is something to be said for that.

On the other hand, sometimes these contract modifications are more than meets the eye. If one is done in this case, look at it closely to see if it changes the terms of a buyout or termination penalty. It could signal some sort of change -- on everyone's part -- as to how or when the relationship between UT and Fulmer might end.

i think the bar is raised. i don't think it's a matter of low expectations. i think it's a matter of competitive advantage, and figuring out what's ours relative to FL, GA, Bama, Aub, LSU etc....

right now, we're "in the mix" i guess, hard not to say so since we just got done playing for the SEC title, but for anyone to say that we've arrived, would be incorrect.

as the rest of the SEC E gets better, are we simply holding serve? are we gaining ground? or are we the Ark of the East? there are arguments that support both.

at some point for any of this to matter, we have to win games that matter, WHEN they matter. FL this year, as it turns out wasn't the game that we HAD to win. GA was. and we did. KY was, and we did. ARK was and we did.

but back to my point.....at the time the game was played, beating FL as the 1st SEC game of every year, we have to show that we are going to beat them at some point, and to do so at the current time, with them having everything they have right now is important. not doing so would simply be the equivalent of losing to SOS and Danny Weurfill all over again.

anyway, i hate to put that kind of pressure on a game that is 11 months away, but it is what is. i just don't think anyone will look at us coming in to next year as the 'team to beat' in the East despite having just won it. to get that moniker, we have to make our season more relevant after the month of September.

I really do not agree with the Article...If we want to rise back into the ranks of Tier 1 we are going to have to beat Tier 1 Level competition....I think, we at VolNation, hands are tied...There is so much division on what changes need to be accomplished with the football program to improve our tier level...Half of the changes we want will not occur and the other half are not feasible at this moment...I know for sure I do not care how we get there but I will and would want to play in the SECCG every year no matter how ugly the route was to get there...At least at that point we are on the road(track) to consistency and to regaining our status as a Tier 1 college team....
