Seems with his production so far he is depth/practice player. Nothing jumps about him but I'm not paid to make decisions.
I think I agree. He was a 3* out of high school.

Miami 2025: GP: 5 GS: 0 TT: 5 PDEF: 0
Miami 2024: GP: 9 GS: 6 TT: 27 PDEF: 4
Miami 2023: GP: 11 GS: 1 TT: 14 PDEF: 0
Vanderbilt 2022: GP: 11 GS: 1 TT: 6 PDEF: 2

Nothing about those numbers scream vital contributor.

On the other hand, since this was completed after the addition of the CB Coach, DC, and new S&C staff he may well be a good use of one of the 103. Doubt they are down to dart board selection processes.

I would say "not a contributor", but then again he was "not a contributor" with some decent stats on a top 5 Defense and I think the Number 2 or 3 rated backfield in the country.
I think the gu will do good things here.

Are there 2 solid DTs out of that 1,000? If so, get em and let's go to the house
I think that if Knowles or Garner felt like we needed DL they would have already signed them. Something is up or they have a plan. We have needed DLs since the first of year 2025. I am not sure what they are thinking.

They did add Gilliam. That’s a big nice piece. But they lost 2 senior DTs. And added some true freshman.

Campbell
Utley and House must have really impressed Garner.

Lol. At least you're aware of it. Bunch here think they'd have us winning the NC err year if they got to make the decisions.
I mean puttin together a roster, schemin, and calling plays is just like playin a video game, amirite?

And those stats were limited by injury. In fact, that might be the biggest knock on him...he needs to stay healthy. But if he does, I think he can be a nice asset for this defense.

Those 3 are the key to the DT situation. They need to make 2nd year jumps. All 3 were highly recruited. All 3 were/are highly valued by Garner. 2 of the 3 played significant snaps as true freshmen (and House looked good and got a sack when he got to play against cupcakes).

With their raw ability, freshman playing experience, Garner's coaching, and Owings' ability as a strength coach, combined with the usual jump most players make between year 1 and year 2, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that 2 or perhaps all 3 of those guys will be forces in the middle next season.

I've noticed that - it seems like A LOT of the players in the transfer portal are coming off some type of injury.
I wonder if that's the norm to try to make a fresh start with a different staff of coaches, or just a fluke?

Nathan Robinson. Big impact and the beginning of the year before injuries. He will be a RS Junior 6’6 300. We need depth on the line and we will be fine.

It would be nice if he could get to about 310-315 with that 6-6 frame to become better against the run. Hopefully, Owings can get him there. And help him stay healthy. Garner has always been high on Robinson.
