It’s closed to players wanting to to enter, not to commit who is already in there.

You have to enter before the close date, but once you are in, there is an extended period you can still sign. National Championship teams/players also have an extended period.

The portal is closed for players to enter. Unless, your team was still playing when those dates occurred. It’s also not closed for the players already in it to sign with a team.

I wonder that too, but I've also heard of multi-year agreements it seems.

I think the Drama in Pajamas deal was 8 million over 4 years, or 2 mill per year.

Which was why the dad wanted to renegotiate because the market on a "starting QB" had went up since the deal was inked.
