Vol FB player James Pierce arrested for domestic violence and other stuff against Rickea Jackson

I will say her presence of mind to drive straight to the police department with him chasing and bumping her, and that she even knew where it was, is pretty incredible. He actually committed about half those charges in the pd parking lot!

And I thank God no one was armed, except the police. And thank God they didn’t shoot him. Imagine the trauma that would have been.
I wonder if those difficult issues that Rickea was dealing with during the WNBA season are related to Pierce?

When this story first broke I read that he was recruited by a couple of NFL teams but they elected to pass saying that he had "some issues." Atlanta signed him and he had a very good season. I guess he can now kiss a promising career goodbye.

Go over to the FB forum and they have a thread with details. Didn't know about Rickea.
People around both of them have been trying to keep them apart for the better part of three years, it’s unfortunate that it came to this big of a head, but it’s not the first incident and it’s not the first time the police have been involved. It’s certainly the first time it’s been this serious, though.

If Pearce had been driving a Honda Civic instead of a Lamborghini he’d likely be dead right now.
100%. Or if the agency invovled had been ICE and not the local police. Him clipping the cop's knee with his car as he tried to get away is so sadly similar to the situation of the woman in Minnesota. I also thank God JPJ was not armed. I can't even wrap my brain around what might have happened if he was.

This probably has to do obviously with her not being ready but also with the level of security unrivaled would have to provide for the arena since JPJ is out on bail. He told the judge he was going back to Atlanta and I'm sure he's surrounded by minders. But the league could not take a chance.

I doubt she'll return for the rest of the unrivaled season. I think that's why the league just gave Breeze Courtney Williams.

This seems incredibly unfair and is no doubt gonna cause real controversy among the players. The team she's going to, which she played for last year, is in a dogfight for one of the last playoff spots with just four games remaining. And they're playing for big money at least to these underpayed plaes. This especially effects Raes team, Vinyl. I wish Vinyl would go get Aja Wilson for the playoff push.

It's definitely a good PR and ratings move, you cant accuse them of fumbling that bag like the W did. But I'm the players are going to raise Cain over this.

This also brings additional security problems, which no fault of hers, are inherent with Ange. Additional security problems are the very last thing Unrivaled needs right now.

Have not paid much attention to that league, but letting players join a roster at this point in the season is just wrong. No sport of any kind that is a professional team sport lets you do that. There are roster deadlines and trade deadlines in all professional sports.

Example of how unfair this is, to make room for Angel on Rose, Azura Stevens got sent to Hive, a team with no possibility of making the playoffs. Directly putting Z's earned money in Angel's pocket. But when the players complain, which I can't imagine they won't, the narrative will be that they're just jealous of Angel.

Again, good pr, terrible player relations move. Really disappointing for what is supposed to be a player's league. I'm sure they're feeling completely knifed in the back

Took off in Jackson car.
Judge doesn't care about his employment.
Falcons no comment on legal investigation
Pop up on YouTube stream device.
Watch thought I share.

What do think of taking off in her trying to flee?
And judge telling him she doesn't care about his employment?

Is it possible that part of the deal includes making sure Z gets quietly paid a bonus as a thank you?

Likely. Still, this looks so bush league and desperate and can’t be popular with players who’ve been there all along. Not having a trade deadline makes the league look less legit.

I am cynical about the legal outcome,

Courts don't take domestic violence that seriously and often give first time (and sometimes 2 and 3 offenders) pretty lenient terms.

The run in with the police is what will likely earn some jail time but I would bet he pleads down, "mental anguish" or some other rationale, to where his sentence will be minimal jail time with community service and counseling requirements.

He will be given a ban by the NFL for some number of games perhaps even a full season) but if a team thinks Pierce can help them win (which is likely), he will be back in the league sooner than later,

We have seen this story many times over,

I am seriously worried about Rickea's long term safety. Stalkers tend to not just forget about their targets and move on.

We have also seen a new era of essentially cyber warfare targeting domestic violence victims and their reputation using bots on social media. I have already had a male "friend" tell me that, while this was inexcusable, Rickea has a history of antagonizing men...

A problem associated with trying a case in the court of social media. But let us, here on the board, commence forthwith.

I'm not that worried about JPJ currently. As long as the Falcons don't cut him, which they haven't, as long as they're still invested in him, he'll have a minder so tight he'll be lucky to go to the bathroom alone.

It's the army of cyber weirdos who are becoming aware of her for all the wrong reasons that I worry about. She is definitely going into the cyber wood chipper. Hopefully none of those inbreds crossover to real life.

This will be one of those things that gets stirred back up every time it calms down a little. Just like with that filing yesterday. Any day I'm expecting to hear the 911 call she made from her car. Someone like TMZ would love that.

Fortunately it's in both their interest to get this settled as soon as possible. I'm sure his lawyers are looking for the first possible plea deal, The quicker to serve whatever sentence, if there is one, and get back on the field.

I felt like this when the allegations came out against Desean Watson. Talk about a front row seat to the seedier side of the NFL. Even after that debacle of a case, the payoffs, the dropping of criminal charges, he maintained enough value to sign the largest guaranteed contract to date at that point.

Yes. Rickea is in a tough spot. She’ll get a bag though. 💰
