Vol Fans, We Need To Be Patient

I think 8 wins and a bowl would be great. I think most fans before the season would agree. That is why the melt down after UCLA was so strange for me.

We lose to UF, Bama, and one other. What is so bad about that in a year with no QB.

Next year we will have a freshman QB, so it might not be much better.

I think what gets most Vol fans is that UF is so smug -- like they invented football.

In the years that Bama dominated, they acted with class most of the time.

Before the UCLA game, I thought Tennessee had a good chance of going even as high as 8-4. UT was an 8 point favorite, playing at home. That means that they were probably two touchdowns better than UCLA. The 8-4, before UCLA was based on us being favorites over South Carolina by 7, over Auburn by 10, over Kentucky by 7 and over Vandy by 13. Now I am really afraid we might be favored over only Vandy if at all. Now it looks, at best, we will be 6-6. I really am worried about all the above mentioned teams being better than UCLA, which I thought was very, very mediocre. How could we have lost to UCLA at home. I just hope we didn't make a bad hire, and Al Davis was right. Hopefully we turn this thing around.

Thank you...I say 2011 We will be competing legitimately again. (I.E. against Bama, LSU, Florida.)

Geez, and my daughter will have gone through 4 years of undergrad and 2 years of Masters at UF never experiencing a Vol victory over the Gators.

I do try to convince her that UT wasn't so automatic years ago.

That patience is only bearable when it is reasonable - "we should be good to go in 2011" means about eight years of working back up! I never knew you guys were so patient.

Look, although I'm a Gator fan, I believe a strong Tennessee is good for the SEC as a whole.

My family and I are from PA and I broke the Penn State tradition by going to UF in 78 and as does my daughter now (Dad, other 2 daughters, most friends, all PSU). Big 10 vs SEC arguments turn ugly every holiday. Although the last 3 NC games advanced my point, the worst bowl games of my life were the Florida loss to Michigan and the Penn State victory over Tennessee a few years ago.

I was at Happy Valley to watch PSU play last weekend and it's a joke the Lions are ranked in the Top 10. Their SOS is like 79!!

Anyway, hurry back to the dance. A real Gator fan doesn't like this 28 point underdog thing. We remember the "wars" fondly.

And for god sakes, if you play a Big Ten team post season, do us all a favor...
