On my drive home I was listening to Miss. sports talk to hear what they were saying about the game. Most callers were surprised at the number of Vol fans at Oxford and all stated that our fans were by far the best in the sec. They used words like friendly, courteous and loyal. They also remarked even after the game started going south our fans stayed. It doesn't ease the pain of the loss but it's good to know that others see what we already knew, that Vols fans are in a class by themselves. It's great to be a VOL

I made sure to let everyone know the Liberace-Kid Rock amalgam leading the Hotty Toddy cheer was the gayest thing I've ever seen.

From the other side, Ole Miss fans were the nicest fans that I have even been around. Granted I have only been to Athens, Tuscaloosa, and Gainesville, I thought that the Ole Miss fans were extremely courteous and surprisingly hospitable. I had a couple Ole Miss fans come up to me both before and after the game welcoming me to Oxford and telling us good luck and surprised that I made such a long trip and stuff. The stadium was literally 25-30% orange. It was a great turnout.

It was amazing how many UT fans were at that game (like someone else said the stadium as at least 25% orange). Even one of the TV announcers said something about how many UT fans made the trip. Awesome stuff.

Of course, the drive to Oxford, MS is a much shorter trip than going to Knoxville for many West TN Vol fans. That had something to do with it.

Don't you guys think that the bowl representatives in attendance took notice of this? Bodes well...

Jordan-Hare is also a nice place to see a game. The Auburn faithful are a decent crowd.... It's the only other place in the league I'd feel safe taking my family.

All teams have lousy fans, including the Vols. Back when I was @ UT I saw UT fans throwing open packs of ketchup and food at Georgia fans for no reason. I've sat next to rowdy UT fans in Neyland that tried to start fights with fellow UT fans for no reason. There are bad apples in every schools' fanbase, as there are also some really cool people that follow every team. I've also had gator fans buy me beer in Knoxville, and generally speaking most of the gator fans I've met were some of the most down to earth people I've been around. I'm sure it would be quite different if I were visiting Florida though.

I've worked in MS a lot. The folks there are first class. Honestly, the only people that I met in MS that were azzholes were people who were actually from Alabama and were working in MS.
