Not me man, I put far more faith in the talent judging skills of internet posters than I do in football coaches...
Me too, man. I was reading that he was ranked second among all QBs in this class as far as cool and moxy goes. Sounds like Kiffin made a mistake here.

I hate to be argumentative, but I am pretty sure rivals had him #1 in moxy.

I'm a Tennessee Vol...I ain't no Kiffinite yet. CLK talks the talk but to quote Nick Nolte's police chief boss in 48 Hours..."Just because you say that with conviction, don't mean **** to me!"

It's a breath of fresh air and I'm enjoying the developing stories on the new staff. I'll love seeing what Monte can do. The recruiting storylines are also interesting, particularly the one developing with Boyd.

If CLK screws it up, my attitude at the moment is that I hope they are quick to throw him under the bus. He has earned no political capital with me.

As time progresses, I hope my attitude will change but I want to see the goods first.

your next 9 months will be awfully bland.

Not so. We have the staff to consider, then recruiting. Spring practice will radiate a bunch of info and as always, I will struggle through the long hot summer in fear of player arrests and flunkouts and the potential for NCAA violations.

It will be the usual fare with the added spice of the new coach......good times!

but it's all a heckuva lot more fun with an opinion. Otherwise, these arguments around here are hard to enjoy.

I am guessing we will have open practices. At the very least I bet we get more news than we have in the last few spring seasons.

....and there will be some January enrollees to scope out. It's going to be fun to see how CLK approaches all of this.....been awhile since we had a potential for radical departure from the same old same old. I hope the practices are more open. I think the closed practices were a indication of a bunker mentality.

Phil Fulmer was given ample opportunity to right the ship. While some will disagree I think general consensus rests firmly in this argument.

Vol fans were patient then.

Now with the Boyd situation and as speculation about the new staff runs rampant I say be patient. Trust the vision that LK has for this program.

The decision was not a knee jerk reaction. There has been a plan for this all along. The Auburn situation really made me realize how patient we have been.
couldn't agree more.

I thought the fools in Fayetteville were the only SEC fan base crazy enough to run their best coaching option out of town. Now Auburn goes and one-ups them.
yeah, no kidding......good point.

as for the Boyd issue........good for Kiff that he was honest with him. at some point, that's all you can really ask for in a recruiting relationship. Even if it turns out that turns one away, it was still the right thing to do, given the direction Kffin wants to go.

The advantage of the Kiffin hire is that he's been researching the college recruiting scene ever since he was let go by Oakland as I believe his goal was to get back to the college game. He hasn't been burdained with coaching games just plotting his strategy. When the Tennessee job opened up it was by far the best option on the table for an ambitious person like Kiffin looking to make a mark. This has allowed him to hit the ground on recruiting far faster and much more organized than anyone else available. Grabbing Rieves was also a great stroke as he got someone intimately knowledgeable about the South in general and a key recruiting area, SC, in particular and as a bonus hurt a key SECE rival.

I was OK with the hire when announced, I'm a lot more excited about it the more I've thought about it and now seeing him quickly and agressively implement his plan.

I'll bet he's got several tricks up his sleeve that we won't know about until after signing day and I'm sure he's going to spread some misdirection and misinformation during this process.

What the $%^&...Vol fans are patient??? Maybe before 1998, but not since. That is pretty funny. More so than Auburn...maybe, but the fans are not what fired Tubb's, it was the higher ups that never liked him.

couldn't agree more.....better to recruit to a plan rather than torecruit for rankings....I thought CLK handled this the right way.

well said and I agree.

also, I'm a Kiffinite until shown that I shouldn't be. I think as a fan, that's how we all should be, even if you don't agree with the hire, still be supportive.

Obviously it's a much smaller scale, but I compare it to the recent election given the few similarities (timing, experience, CHANGE). I can't stand President-Elect Obama.... but he's still the Commander In Chief of my country and I'll support him for that. I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire, but I support our Commander In Chief regardless of if he got my vote or not.

The auburn decision was kneejerk, bama will own them for years now.

I've been very patient and i'm ready to watch a tennesee team play good crisp football. Hopefully lane will deliver.

I can't say I totally agree with the decision to turn away our best recruit, but Kiffin can use it to his advantage in the future when he finds the guy he wants and says "I turned away a great player because I didn't think he was right for UT, but I am asking you to come because I fully believe you will be an excellent fit." We can only hope that CLK knows who that player will be.

Why recruit a QB who is 6ft? Ever heard the expression...It;s hard to see the valley for the trees? CLK wants a QB who can stand back in the pocket and pass over the lineman not one where your constantly rolling the QB out to create throwing lanes.
