I've been probably the biggest Butch supporter on this board but after witnessing last nights loss against Vandy, I've come to conclusion that Butch is not the right man for the Tennessee job. He was what we needed in the short term but long term, he's not going to cut it here as bad as I'd hate to say it. I know I know, I started a thread about 2 weeks ago saying that there was too much negativity going around our program and didn't want any part of it but now I've finally come to realize why VN has been upset this whole season. I just tried to keep confident that eventually everything would fall right back into place this season but it didn't happen. Our team has played their hearts out and never gave up. But you have to look at the facts too, we didn't live up to our expectations and failed to execute. Butch is a great guy and truly does care about this program but I think he's done served his time here. I do wish him success in his coaching career. He'll do great at a Mid Major school. I'm all up for a coaching change as long as it's the right one. Not someone like Les Miles who's probably similar to Butch.

You may think this is crazy, but I think we could pull Jimbo Fisher with the right package

LSU wouldnt pull the trigger and Jimbo was listening

Fisher would also have a much easier path to the SECCG in the East.

He would not be competing with Bama for the West title and Fisher pretty much owns Florida right now

He would be who I would force to call the cops on me for stalking before I go to my 2nd tier coaches

Nope, not going to believe OP. As soon as next year or a new coach is hired he will put back on the coach sheep clothing.

Jimbo reportedly wanted 6.5M for 10 years

It's easy to see that Butch is a scam when you account that two of our victories should have been defeats. Butch had nothing to do with the App. State or Georgia victory, we simply had players win those games and luck.

Tennessee should be 6-6 this year possibly 5-7 if Ohio got lucky like we do.

Lol you are smoking some great stuff huh?

You are used to the idiots running the AD for the last 10 years

You put enough money and package together and make them say no

When they do, you add a little more

Our AD is like a guy who asks a girl out one time, gets turned down, and then dates guys

I'll have to see who the next HC is and actually watch him coach his first game of the season before I make any assumptions.

I'm done with Jones and his BS. Hire a new AD and let's move on! Don't think Fisher would leave FSU but would love him in Orange!

Like it or not, Butch is:
* 14-4 over the last 18 games,
* 3rd in wins over the last 2 years in the SEC (Saban leads and McElwain is 1 win better),
* and has a better record over the last 3 years than any coach in the SEC that was hired when he was.
Who you gonna hire if you fire him that can guarantee a better result?

Yes, but I can't see UTAD paying this much based on recent history.

Alabama did the same thing up until Saban

They realized the return on investment is staggering if you are willing to invest up front

Our AD seems like its still in the 80's

Saban is the benchmark you have to attain. Its not bowl games and "next year". Its getting that person who can hand him his ass on a platter

Now, that is few and far between, but that doesnt mean you settle.

Your question is as good as mine but like I said, we've seen all we needed to see to know that Butch isn't the answer. I just truly hope our next HC is an upgrade.

Dooley was trash. Butch is average. Now it's time to take the next step and get a winner while we still have talent on the roster. The AD situation makes it hard though
