So I wanted to do something a little bit different this year for everyone on this forum. With all the major games already released I thought we could have a tournament free for all that pitted all the year's best titles against each other until we have our forum's very own game of the year

The way this will work:

For each "matchup" in the bracket a thread will be created consisting of a poll where everyone can vote on what they thought the better game was this year. The game with the most votes by the time the poll closes will advance to the next round. Each round will last approximately a week. This will continue until we have an overall winner/GOTY. The seeding in this will also be completely random. Just thought this would be a fun and interesting way to pass the time, especially now that UT is in it's offseason. Plus it's a way for everyone to be involved on the forum.

I'll try to get a bracket together sometime tonight and will post it on here as a pdf so everyone can see what it looks like. I'll then try to have the first round matchups/threads up sometime tonight or tomorrow. Let me know if anyone else has any other ideas.

Original bracket is in the first image. Updated bracket to the quarterfinals is in the second attachmanet as a pdf.

Yea this is a good idea. The 360 fan boys won't have anything to cry about in this tourney.

They are games too. NCAA12 might get past the first round. I am betting batman makes a strong run =)

I'll have the PDF of the bracket up later today or this evening. I was going to have it ready last night, but I wasn't expecting to add sports titles to the mix.

There will probably be either around 8 or 16 threads created for this (I haven't decided on how many entries to allow in yet) in all so just giving everyone the heads up early on. I already asked Freak if this was ok since I didn't want it to make it seem like I was cluttering the board...but he said it sounded like a good idea and he gave me the green light for it. I'll have the polls up either sometime late tonight or sometime early tomorrow.

I may or may not include them. I orginally wasn't going to but a couple have already said they wanted them in. I doubt any of the sports titles would get very far anyway. It would just be interesting to see how this goes with several genres in the mix. I might be throwing in a few duds from this year too for the sheer entertainment factor.

The bracket has been uploaded for those that want to see it. It can be viewed in the original post. The image is kinda fuzzy so it will be converted to a pdf file later on in round 2, but this was the quicket way to display it as of right now.

I decided to not include any competetive titles such as sports, fighting, or racing games since those games have their own category and usually aren't considered for GOTY. I might make a separate thread later on for "sports game of the year" if people want me to.

I'll have the polls up sometime tonight.

GOW got screwed with a 7 seed and potential second round matchup with COD. :)

Polls are about to be up.

I talked to Freak and he thought it best to have them in the main gaming forum since it will get more participation that way rathar than having it in a subforum. It's also not going to clutter the board that much since we're only going to have 8 threads in round 1 compared to the 16 I thought we were originally going to have.

If Skyrim doesnt win this tourney, the whole damn thing is rigged and mattresses will be burned.

Also, are we allowed to "show blitz" pre snap in this tourney? Just wondering.

Probably going to reduce the time between each round to 3 or 4 days after the polls close on Saturday. A week was probably too long in hindsight.
