Again, I apologize for the delay. Thanks for voting this week, fellas. The overall poll looks pretty good. Have a Happy New Year!

This is hilarious. Florida was tied for #6 last week and, after absolutely hammering #3 Ohio State by 24 points, they drop to #7.

I have a feeling I know why this happened. For some reason, VolinArizona has seen fit to rank Florida at, like, #23. Obviously, this skewed the results severely.

I mean, Florida is a concensus Final Four pick right now and looked last Saturday like no one in college b-ball could hang with them for 40 minutes. And they are seventh?

I can understand homerism leading to ranking UT a little higher than maybe the regular polls, but having your love for UT lead you to intentionally sabotage a rival who is CLEARLY top two or three is just stupid.

I agree Florida is a good team and should be recognized for their win over Ohio State. I had Florida #10 last week and moved them up to #7 this week because of the win. The only thing that is keeping them out of my top 5 is that they have two losses and the teams above them only have one.

Don't let it get you overly excited, lawgator. After all, it's a top 25 that's posted on a University of Tennessee message board. Doesn't really mean much. Different people vote every week, so last weeks rankings usually don't mean much.

Law I would put the Ladyvols over the Gators men team:)

I think you should try and submit a top 25 every week. With only 6-8 voters each week, your poll would definitely impact the overall top 25. Then, as a voter, you'd have more of a right to complain.

Depends. There are a lot of JUCO men's teams out there that would destroy the Lady Vols, but I'd also say there are a few the Lady Vols could beat.

No. The best indication of that is the fact that Summitt has her team practice against guys, none of whom are good enough to play at the college level, doesn't allow them to jump, and feels this makes her teams better. Jr. High teams, maybe. JUCO teams, not a chance in hell.

Wow.

We've both been here for a long time, and if you haven't noticed, I take my stances seriously and I look at everything in a fair light. If you don't agree with my opinions, that's fine. However, to insult me over it is a little childish.

I rank teams based on what they've accomplished, not on how talented they are. Look at Tennessee football 2005. Insanely talented, terrible team.

At this point, Florida hasn't accomplished anything close to what the top 10 teams have in my poll. You've faced the 169th toughest schedule. 2-3 games against good opponents ISN'T YOUR SEASON. Yes, Florida IS the most talented team in the nation, but right now, they have the 20th best resume, IMO.

And like I said, you can disagree and we'll have a good time discussing things. However, you're making it personal and insulting my integrity. You're better than that.

Florida's not the most talented team in the country. North Carolina and Kansas both have better personnel.

He's their best pro prospect. That said, that team disintegrates without Taurean Green.

While you think Florida is 3rd in personnel in the country, does their chemistry and experience make them the favorite to win it all on paper? They remind me of the Detroit Pistons from 2004 and 2005. Great players, great understanding of roles, little selfishness.

The experience of having won it does give them an advantage. However, I don't think the residual benefit is as great as many think.

Sorry to turn this into a weird Q&A with you, but what do you think about Vance Walberg at Pepperdine? Will his AASAA offense work? I know he taught it to Calipari, but does Memphis use it? Can you give some more insight into the offense? Will Pepperdine be a WCC contender in 3 seasons?

Why is law crying when he didn't even vote? I have a few issues with the poll, but it isn't my place to complain because I didn't take the time to vote.

I think Walberg will do well at Pepperdine, his JC connections will be huge in recruiting. That offense will work, like any other offense, if you get personnel that fits it. Cal has gone almost exclusively to the AASAA, moving away from the more structured system he learned from Larry Brown and Paul Evans. Walberg's offense places the ability to get to the rim at a premium. Also, you have to have at least a couple of shooters who can knock down threes when the defense collapses on the penetrators. I am more of a motion offense/passing game offense proponent. I do think he'll have Pepperdine contending sooner than later.

Ok, so put them #3. VolinArizona ranked them 23rd. I'm sorry, that's just plain stupid.

You understood my point.

Yes. We all understood your stupid point.

I'm not insulting you. You are fine. I like you. Would buy you a drink in a heartbeat. But Florida at #23? Sorry, that's ... what's the word? Oh, yeah. Stupid.

Again, good point.
