Washington State strikes me as a perfect place for Randy Bennett to make the jump to a BCS school.

he would have been an idiot to stay at wsu
When your career winning percentage at a school is about 160 points higher than its all time mark, you do have to wonder how long you can keep it up. That said, he's leaving a nice core of talent behind for the next guy.

Lot of talent running around the DC area for him to recruit as well. He's bound to pick up some studs.

i'm not sure if you've ever been to that part of the country, but it's a bloody miracle he was even .500. it might be the coldest, ugliest, and most boring place in america.

????????????????????? Check back to every post I've ever made on him. I've never changed my views on him.

this guy? I hope he succeeds--I live near UVA and love the place--but I don't know much about him. My take is that there isn't much recruiting competition in the northwest, besides gonzaga and washington. Granted, there probably aren't a ton of great players in the northwest US., but any good player in the northwest who doesn't want to go halfway across the country to play has limited options--and wash. state is one of them. At UVA, he'll have to compete with EVERYBODY in the country for east-coast talent--not just the acc--and uva ain't exactly on my kids top 10 list. He'll have to be a very good coach just to get UVA into the upper half of the ACC--forget the top. UNC and Duke will never be dislodged, and Maryland (national title) and Wake are very solidly the third and fourth best teams in the conference, not to mention Clemson and va. tech. He's got his work cut out for him. I also hear he plays a (boring) Wisconsin style. That may actually be a good thing.

The Paloose certainly isn't going to be confused with San Diego.

I've never heard criticisms about the way that Bennett's teams have ever defended.

just made a brilliant hire. Tony Bennett will do very, very well there.

Maybe and maybe not. His record for his three years in Pullman shows a trend downward in the W-L ratio. This suggests a recruiting deficiency.

Virginia used to be a big name basketball school. It would be nice to see Dick Bennett's son suceed there.

No, it suggests he won with one group, which he replaced with the freshmen who played this year. The group of recruits that played their first year at Washington State this season is probably the best class Wazzu has ever signed.

I don't care who they hire, Virginia will always be the same ol' sorry ass Cavaliers, lumped up with Clemson, NC State, Miami etc. at the bottom of the ACC food chain.
