Villeneuve to NASCAR?

Heard a blurb on the local news that a deal is done or close to bring Jaques Villeneuve to NASCAR - with Rousch Racing.

Can't find an article though -- anyone have any info?

Montoya and Villeneuve --- should be interesting.

I've heard the rumor... but that's all. Interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Who would've ever thought you'd be seeing not just one, but two, F1 drivers jumping to NASCAR in the same year?

It is weird. I saw both of these guys live a couple of times (CART). They have the stuff. Both have won the Indy500 and I think both won CART Championships.

yes, NASCAR drivers are far superior to those driving in F1. :crazy:

not sure about Montoya, but Villenevue is also a world champion. JPM might wreck some cars next year, but i guarantee you he will be fast, if not faster, than most guys out there.

i've seen both of them win the Indy 500.

So you agree that Montoya and Villeneuve will be champions in NASCAR within 5 years? I mean they're obviously superior drivers.

I wouldn't guarantee championships or even that they will dominate. All I'm saying is that these guys are top notch drivers. It doesn't matter if its NASCAR or soap-box derby - these guys can drive.

I would also add that they both have success on ovals and road courses. Are they superior to the top drivers in NASCAR? Who knows. The short tracks will probably be the biggest learning curve but they have plenty of experience at Michigan, Phoenix, Indy, Infineon and maybe one or two other tracks.

Great drivers are great drivers.

all i am saying is these guys can can drive, and they have proven it on every level they have been at. don't act like they are going to be schmucks in stock cars or that NASCAR is the elite series with ALL the elite drivers, and everybody else is has beens. they know what they're doing.

champions in 5 years? i could see JPM as a Cup champ in the next 5 years. no doubt.
