2010 is Pearl's last chance to land a stud recruit.. Either that or Hopson, Tyler, or Chism need to get drafted in the 1st round

Hey Bruce, how about recruiting during the summer instead of playing in the Maccabiah summer league, which is definitely why we lost Selby...we HAVE to start hitting the recruiting trail HARD! We are on nobody's list whereas Florida is all over almost every top 50 kid...We are not gonna be able to compete with Kentucky/Florida or even South Carolina in the next few seasons with 3 star players

I'm glad Lofton and JuJuan weren't good enough for you.

I agree that Bruce needs talent to win - it doesn't take much intelligence to understand that. But if you base the kids based on their high school careers instead of their college careers, you are called a star gazer.

We are perfectly fine at guard and wing through 2010-2011 (unless Hopson leaves early - which may cause the staff to take another wing such as Crawford and we may take him anyways). We need a PF and Center to play significant backup minutes or fight for a starting spot but we have to let Bruce do his job.

Instead of blaming him for his summer trip, why don't you let Bruce do some extra work now - like he did with Golden - and land us a few bigs (and Crawford).

There will be plenty of shakeup in the spring as well.

"Extra work" might be enough when you're battling Virginia and Georgia for a player. Trying to make up ground lost while you took a paid family vacation is no way to compete with Huggs, Calhoun, Wright, Cal, Boeheim, etc.

That is a fair statement. However, I'd like one good reason how your negativity helps us in any way.

I'd like to know how me acting like Pearl neglecting his job during one of the most important parts of the recruiting calender is all sunshine and unicorns would help UT in any way.

I'd like to know why you neglected to note all of your negativity towards Pearl and the program in general in many of your posts.

I'd like to know why you think my opinions of Pearl have the first effect on the fortunes of the program.

When did I say they did?

But see the Vander Blue situation. If I was a D1 recruit and I logged onto the message boards of the teams I was considering, I'd be disgusted by what I saw here - because of you.

You are also a major downer for the fans. Your negative comments aren't going to get Pearl fired so why continually bash him when he may be our coach for many years to come? Everyone knows you don't like him but you can't argue with success.

maybe because they have an effect on him?

I understand Hatvol is god here and everyone will rally around him - but why does everyone adopt his negativity? How negative were you guys when we were losing? It must have been suicidal around here.

That paragraph looks really familiar. Where have I seen that post almost word for word before?

If you were a D-I prospect allowing your college decision to be influenced by what you read on a message board, that would make you an idiot.

Not exactly. What I would do is take a bunch of unofficials to all of the schools I was interested in. After in homes with a bunch of coaches I would narrow my list to five. I would take all five official visits regardless of my opinions so far. Once I narrow it down to two or three, I do any research on the schools I can - early playing time potential, national championship potential, athletic facilities, academic prestige, coach, FANS, and many many more. But if the fans of a certain school aren't happy with their own team, it doesn't bode well for the school.

If disgruntled fans hurt recruiting, Kentucky would be lucky to sign 3rd team ALL KIL quality players.

are you serious? Have you seen the UK fans on the rivals message boards. The only posts I see are them talking about landing every player they want and them not wanting to take a top ten player because he isn't good enough.

I don't see that as disgruntled. I see it as naive but extremely positive (but it bugs the s**t out of me)

were you happy pre-pearl hat?
Sure I am not a fan of the summer happenings.....but Pearl has done wonders for this program.

Besides, this kind of discussion occurs on every message board, regardless of team. I'd rather have some "negativity" thrown in (it happens to be truth in this case) than sit around fellating the coach 24/7.

I guess you could go to a team that has no fans…
