I understood that part of your post... for hand/eye coordination... which is why I didn't ask about it. I was just wondering if it was for pitch drill and trick plays why they wouldn't practice making legitimate laterals during the drill instead of illegal forward passes.

It was a simple question. Maybe the drill is too difficult to execute with the combination of a backwards lateral and the weaving of three players? I was just curious.

The ones cutting in front of the guy they tossed to? Only the real thing you gotta remember in this drill or like the guy above said, the ones that obviously didnt play basketball and learn this drill in 1st grade

Not sure what that drill is for, but that seemed to be a lackluster effort from many of the players.

Dropped passes plus breaks up the practice. Expect to see this again with two balls in the mix.

This would be interesting. We used to do something similar with baseball drills.
