In the drivers seat To win the SEC East in 2016. " That was his comment on the SEC Network last night. He did say Tennessee is up and coming. It kind of caught me by surprise but I guess his thinking is until we show we can beat them, they should be considered the favorite. In my opinion that's not a bad thing going into next season.

Have to kill the beast before you can pass it. Reminds me of the Bull trying to get past the pistons. I believe next year we will kill the beast

If I had to wager, I'd pick Florida to finish 3rd in the SEC East next year. Everyone underrated them this year, even though they had an immense collection of talent on both sides of the ball. Next year, people are overlooking just how much talent they lose on defense.

Everyone will underestimate Georgia next year. They've underperformed for so many years, it's simple to do, but they'll finally have solid coaches on both sides of the ball. Chaney as OC will be a huge upgrade over Schottenheimer. Not sure who they'll bring in for DC, but with Kirby Smart at the helm, I don't think it'll drop off from this year. They'll still be weak at QB, but they'll be good enough to compete for the East.

That said, we probably have the best collection of talent in the East next season. Won't be easy to win, but feel like we've finally got everything we need to compete for the SEC title.

Agree about UGA however it's hard to win without a QB. Vols should win the East especially with FL at home next year. Hopefully Sutton and Maybin stick around for what could be a special season.

Agree with a lot of what has already been said. Florida has QB issues, plus they are losing way too many quality players on defense. I still question JM's ability to really recruit. I don't think that Florida quite has the talented depth on defense....particularly in the front 7 that they used to have. The east is Tennessee's to lose IMO.

If we don't beat Florida next year, it's possible we never will.

Never is a long time (or not)... I remember having conversations with fans such as this who insisted that if we couldn't beat Florida with Peyton Manning that we would never beat them without him (or the very next year)... Hmmmm

Can we all keep this in mind when the crazy predictions start in the off season? We can't make an sec run without beating Florida. We haven't done this in over a decade. So when sec network picks us to win the east then we lose to Florida, don't jump off a cliff.

Also, on the road at UGA and A&M are not gimmicks either.

I've seen this statement for the last several years... it has become an annual thought amongst Tennessee fans.

I doubt most of the ones saying it are old enough to remember our 11 game losing streak to the Tide.

I like our chances in '16 - McElwain may have out kicked his coverage by winning the East in year one - Florida QB situation should be an advantage when they visit Neyland next fall.

Actually, I disagree. Of course, right now, they are the contenders but I think they will have a disappointing season. Grier won't be back until like end of Septemberish right? They are young but I don't feel they are as talented on offense as we are. Their defense is another story but they are losing Poole and I think VH3 will enter in the draft (pure speculation).

There is no favorite in the East.

Florida will be a better football team in 2016 than they are in 2015.

Whether that is reflected in the win-loss record or not, we will see.
