Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson acknowledges he might need to find a new home | Vikings Wire

In his second season, he finished with 33 catches, 384 yards and a touchdown and his return average dipped to 25.6 yards. He ended up in head coach Mike Zimmer’s doghouse for his lack of knowledge with the playbook and his struggles with route running.

One of my favorite all time Vols.
He provided some exciting moments during his short time at UT. The physical talent is incredible and if he combined that with sound route running learning the playbook, he could be a NFL game changer for years.

I wish him the best, regardless of where he ends up playing.

He's always managed to get by on talent alone. He needs to to learn some study habits as well. Call up PM

I think he's done or close to it. All that talent and not being able to run a route correctly is unfortunate. I wish him the best.

CP was a really fun player to watch at UTK. Unfortunately, he somewhat like DGB w/Titans,...the mental part of the game is not a strength.

I hate the Pats but I'd love to see CP go here and have CBB transform his game. He has all the talent in the world that you can't teach he just doesn't have the route running that can be taught. I hope he ends up in a system and a coach that can teach him how to run routes.

Patterson is a freak athlete. Unbelievably gifted. He is everything you want...physically. Problem is he failed to become a student of the game.

In HS and college, he got by as coaches just gave him the ball and letting him improvise. In the NFL, they don't draw plays in the dirt. Vikings invested a lot in getting Patterson, and they gambled they could teach him. But if you don't learn the playbook in the league, they don't tailor a whole new playbook for one guy; they cut their loses and draft someone else.

Dude is definitely gifted physically. He didn't realize the amount of work it would take to make it in the league. Guys put in work 24/7 on their game and those that don't get cut.

My Raiders will take him.

Maybe as a FA, but unless he cleans up his routes, he would be released before the preseason ends next year. Reggie MacKenzie has been there long enough that Raiders fan's expectations are starting to rise. And since nobody sees kickoffs moving back for more returns, Patterson's skill set is not as marketable to teams. CP entering the league just as the rules changed, and he has failed to adjust.

I am sure someone will probably give him a last shot. Probably a coach on the hot seat desperate for a miracle hire. And if they can't teach CP? Sayonara.

A freak athlete but he's never been a good wide receiver and not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I'm afraid. But, yea, a VFL.

As a huge Vols/Pats fan.. I'd love to see it, but it would never happen. Patriots are incredibly deep at WR this year and will be playing 2 TEs majority snaps, even with 1/2 RBs. need for WRs is not there, and theres about 8 guys in camp already vying for 5 spots. CPs best shot is with a contender in need, I say Carolina.

If they couldn't teach Ochocinco the system, I'm not sure they can teach CP.

Favorite all time VFL's these days don't gotta learn playbooks or even stay more than a year.

My favorite is Riley Ferguson.
