After driving back from the game, I really thought about the type of team we could be bringing back to Knoxville in the upcoming season. If the coaches play to their team's strength, we would seem to have a solid core to build around with the freshmen that have contributed this season.

I was optimistic about 2008 even before this season, but with what we have all seen this year from the new guys, I think it would be safe to say that we will see a team with a different persona and better leadership. The senior leadership we had on this team for 2007 has been suspect, at best.

So Rasputin, will you bitch about Crompton or Coleman next year? :)

I'm kidding. This team has grown leaps and bounds as the season wore on. Returning the OL and 3 good running backs will help whoever takes over at QB.

Get a pass rush and who knows.......

I think you're being a bit nice with the word "suspect"....I would say non-existant with Ainge & Hefney.....I'm honestly not able to comment on how much of a leader Brown was....I do know he played solid and consistently.....

We have tons of talent and I think we finally beat Meyer...but Richt gets payback at home.:cray:

Yea, looks promising, but damn so far way.

Linebackers look great. Berry will be a leader as a sophomore. D-line seemed to be getting better at pass rush.

Offense, not so sure about.

Seriously, I'm trying hard to be positive and look at the glass as half full instead of bone dry. I'm not even going to comment about yesterday (unless I'm baited into it). :ermm:

It depends on your point of view. A lot of talent coming back, a veteran OL, supposedly better talent at DL, yadda yadda yadda.

Ras, i dont envy you or anyobody else that had to make the drive home, after a defeat. but i do appreciate all the Vols that made the trip.

Take a look at the last two seasons UT has had following an SEC Championship loss.

I've gotten to the point where the losses don't hurt anymore (that's not necessarily apathy, but something I've just come to expect in a big game with Tennessee lately).

It wasn't a bad drive back because I didn't stew on it. I spent most of the drive thinking about the possibilities for next year.

Let's hope there are some major changes all AROUND the field. Our ON FIELD talent is sufficient.

Who knows about chemistry, luck, injuries, etc. but I do not believe UT will beat Urban...I mean Tebow. They are too well coached & offer too many offensive bullets. They also will have a much improved defense that was rough enough on us in 07 especially with an inexperienced qb.

I'm not drinking the orange Kool-Aid or bourbon right now, but I truely think this team has the potential to go 10-2 or maybe even 11-1 with Florida being the only potential loss. I think we just recruited a class full of guys that make plays, something we've been missing for a while.

So is this just another "Thank God Erik Ainge is gone and we don't have a clear cut starter for next season" thread?? I am optimistic about next year as well, but with no one that is guaranteed to start next year I feel alittle on the uneasy side with our QB situation.

Right there is, IMO, the biggest problem this team has and it's really not as easy to fix as it appears but I do believe they can pull it off.

I think UT will be good next year, but they have MNC team competation inside the conference every year. UF last year, UGA & LSU this year, UF came close also this year. Next year UF & UGA will be very good also. Makes it hard to win.
