Very off topic question here..............

Im making an addition to my house, the addition is going to extend my house toward the property line. My question is, how far from the property line do I have to stay? 3 feet? 10 feet? I live in Chattanooga Tennessee and I cant find anything in the code that states this. I know its there I just can find the section. Thanks for the help........(if I get any)
