Very interesting espn.com article on Fulmer and the future...

Hamilton is pretty tight lipped before he cans a coach, at least he was with the first 2 coaches he fired.

Hamilton has said he expects Tennessee to play for an SEC championship once every three of four seasons and to win two league titles every 10 years. If that's the case, then Fulmer has this season and next to get his team back to the Georgia Dome. Hamilton has told reporters in Knoxville that Fulmer's job is not in jeopardy

That to me speaks volumes...he has until NEXT YEAR to bring us a championship.

I think if he doesn't win one by next year he should step down. My biggest problem with him is his mindset that it's too hard in this conference, we're too young, etc. It's excuse after excuse. I mean he already stated in the article that "The SEC Eastern Division champion could have a loss or two." Right there he is already protecting himself if we lose on Sat. It just seems he has already accepted losing three or four a year and that's fine. His act is getting old.

from the article:

Athletic director [Mike Hamilton] gave my coordinators three-year contracts, assistants two-year contracts. … Nobody -- you or the fans -- wants to win a championship more than I do. We're going to work like heck to make that happen."

Everytime I hear that, I wanna break my foot off in his butt.

IMO this is the best quote from the article:

Fulmer has winning records against only four current SEC coaches: Arkansas' Houston Nutt, Kentucky's Rich Brooks, Mississippi's Ed Orgeron and Vanderbilt's Bobby Johnson. Fulmer hasn't yet coached against Mississippi State's Sylvester Croom.

The Gators aren't the only team standing in the Volunteers' way anymore. Fulmer has an unsightly 24-23 record against the SEC's current crop of coaches.

That to me automatically says something major needs to be done. Unacceptable.

When a team does bad you cant always blame the coach cause the team has to do the play. Not his fault they throw interception,or fumble.Plus not every team can win a championship.Only one team a yr can.

We're not talking one game here....this has been an issue for years now. No one here expects a championship every year, but 0 in the last 8 years is unacceptable by Vol standards.

Not unless those fans loyal to Fulmer are happy lowering standards to accomodate him.
