I know that we have a punishment rule in the SEC that if you go over 25 you get dinged 2 scholarships in the future.

My question is this...

Let's say this punishment is for only one year and falls away the year after that. So anything you get dinged for on the 13 class would only count for 14 and not carry over to 15.

Now let's say Butch Jones and Thigpen and crew say screw it, we need a new roster, and damn the torpedoes, we're signing 50 players in 13 and we will just say fuh-get-about the 14 recruiting class.

This way they have all their guys on campus, some redshirts, some not redshirts, but all are practicing and ready for action in 2015.


Just a thought but considering we have 33 commits right now and it appears we are headed for 37 I just kinda wonder.

With 50 players at a two scholly a piece penalty that would mean would have to "fuh-get-about" the 15 AND 16 class.

I'm almost sure there's something besides the SEC rules preventing schools from signing 50 kids in a class.

Of course, Houston Nutt's first year at Ole Miss saw him sign 40+ people if my memory serves me correct, but that was before any restrictions were in place.

This is the 2014 class. So we would screw the 15 class. Not to mention we already have several commits for the 15 class. Your post doesn't make sense.

Also...I know what you meant, but we're PAST the 13 class...you probably meant the 14 + 15 class...instead of the 13+14 classes...other than that...terrible idea:)

Geez, all he did was ask a question. And what does he get? The standard "weed" answer that accompanies just about any inquiry on here. Instead of saying how much he smokes, can somebody please tell us the limit Butch CAN sign?
Personally, everybody has decommits (Bama had two last week), so I think it will work itself out.

All I can do is SMH!! This idea would be suicide! Freak, can we not ban some posters who start threads that are this idiotic? At least delete it quickly.

I think most of it will work itself out. With there being over 30 on the commitment list and most everyone knowing 30 is the number, a couple of the commits will feel the pressure and move on without having to be "cut". Add in another 1-2 for grades and maybe even a flip due to a new offer that's too hard to pass up and as the Bob's said on Office Space...so it'll just work itself out naturally.

I think we end up over signing by one or two and losing a spot from the next year. There was a quote from the Jackson Harris thread where he said he was told by the staff that they only have like 11 scholarships open for 2015.

If that's the case, the. It looks like UT plans on taking a few extras.
