I'd rather have Chadwell than Napier or another defensive guy in Bill Clark, so I am happy with this list. If they go the NFL route, then that's fine, whatever, but if we are going to hire a sitting college head coach, then give me the guy that overachieved - beat Napier with a worse team - and is one of us.

I have the feeling Billy Napier wont leave his current job to coach Tennessee and Tennessee wont make the risky move of hiring Jamey Chadwell.

That's slightly depressing. The better names are toward the bottom. No O'Brien?

I don't think that's an unrealistic outcome at all. Tennessee has proven that they will eschew the obvious choice for a stupid choice if given the opportunity. At this point, I think Kevin Steele interim next year is as likely as anything, and I think that's the worst decision we could make.

I'm almost willing to bet dollars to donuts that no one Vegas has odds for on that list gets the job. It's going to be someone out of the search firm's pool of paying clients that gets it. They'll be squeaky clean and come from a non P5 school and will lose for 3 or 4 straight years before the administration gets serious about football again. You could almost see the cogs turning in the Chancellor's head that she wanted this mess off her desk for 4 years to be revisited then.

Well, other than giving him a 5 year deal.

Good point, though at least he might be able to recruit next season if he had longevity. My doomsday scenario is that they make him interim, we recruit literally no one worth a damn because they don't know who the coach will be in 2022, and then we announce that we are retaining him in week 10-11 after all the worthwhile recruits have pledged to other schools. I hate this place.

You’d like to see Hugh freeze and Gus malzahn at the top of that list
“You don’t clean house of a bunch of people who aren’t following compliance and go out and get other people that don’t seem to have a record of following compliance.”

Randy Boyd said this to the Knoxville News Sentinel yesterday. This obviously disqualifies Freeze.

You are kind of selling Tennessee short. They have, can and probably will do worse than KS.

But he would not be on my list at all much less at the number one spot
