Vanderbilt May Just Be The Best Women’s College Basketball Team In Tennessee

Some just don't hate the other SEC teams and opposing players enough...
Well we got the Chickens, Gators, Kittens, Razorbacks, Tigers, Longhorns, Tigers more, Cow bell blowers, the hottie totties, Crimson Toads, Bulldogs, and more Tigers, Aggies, Sooners, Commodores, War Eagles when they are not Tigers and more Bulldogs and of course the ones most on this site love best the Volunteers.
A lot to go around some to hate, some to like, some don't really care until we do.

Friend of mine was at Vanderbilt for a Tennessee football game years years ago. It was his first time there and he asked a stranger, "Where's the stadium at?" The person replied, "It's obvious you're a Tennessee fan because a Vandy fan would never end a sentence with a preposition." My friend restated his question, "Where's the stadium at, you SOB?" Kinda sums up lots of folks feelings about Vandy.

You were very kind considering some of the animal mascots.

March 1st...

Who is going to guard Blakes???

Can Pauldo contain Galvan?
Nobody. lol

But seriously, Blakes might be one of the best I've ever seen at using multiple changes of direction/speed and getting defenders off balance, making her a nightmare to guard. I don't think any one of our players can guard her, honestly, and that's no knock on our players. Blakes would be hard for pro players to guard.

Her most dangerous move is that driving long backboard layup where she uses her outside arm held way out of range of the defender to finesse it up there -- mostly on the right side of the lane with her right arm. Seems like she's great at making sure there is no defender on that outside arm, so I wish we could figure out a way to sandwich her between two LVs on those drives to prevent that arm from doing its damage.

I'd kinda like to see what would happen if we double-side-guarded her for a while to see if we could shut her down and force someone else to score for them. I feel like their team gets their energy from whatever Blakes is doing, so I'd be all for leaving someone else open in order to clamp down double hard on Blakes and her energy.
