Yeah.. That gif is one of them... Dave portnoy... I'm agreeing with youI really want the kid in O&W. But Michigan is pushing to buy like OSU did last year. So how is what I said inaccurate? I've heard Michigan has a couple of billionaires funding their NIL collective. I've heard on the radio that the Big 10 as a whole has more billionaire alumni. Thankfully, the SEC has better football.
Will and the Shoney's big boy makes my ears bleed every day after work with some of their nonsense. Not sure about the Big 10 having more billionaires than the SEC schools, especially with 2 Texas schools in the conference. Anonymous radio people say a lot of things.I really want the kid in O&W. I do know we have several billionaires ourselves with the Haslams, Charles Ergen & Thunder Thornton. Not sure of Charlie Anderson's net worth, but he's not broke running a national multimedia company that employs over 4,000 people. Bill Sansom who runs HT Hackney is up there and was the reason Bruce Pearl was kept around during his show cause. In the current landscape of college athletics, Tennessee is not broke and doesn't take a back seat to anyone
One thing to note is while programs like Georgia and Ohio State spend a lot of money on their football programs, they don't really have that same energy when it comes to the rest of their athletic programs. So while they do have deep pockets, there's something to be said how their funds are allocated. I'm not sure we are at a point where fans would sacrifice the success we are having in men's basketball and baseball to possibly breakthrough in football. I say possibly, because even with a high payroll, teams are less likely to go undefeated in the current landscape of college football. And it only takes a bad game, a key injury, or just running across a better team that spent just as much if not more to derail a season. Something to be said to be in the conversation in the 2 programs that operate in the black and a program like baseball that is quickly on the rise.Good post. While I agree we are definitely not broke and can drop big $$$ to land any recruit we REALLY want...we aren't the deepest pockets in FBS. Oregon has Phil Knight who has publicly stated he will personally outbid anyone else for the recruits Oregon wants. Ohio St spent more than anyone in the nation last year and bragged about their $25 million payroll. Michigan has big money and aTm and Texas both have extremely deep pocket billionaires that will spend 20 to 30 million a year to get their recruits as well. Fortunately it isnt all about money for recruits. Coaches, atmosphere, facilities and even academics matter to some top recruits. Many top football players come from the South and don't want to go far from home and freeze their butts off in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, or even Ohio st. I sure as Hell wouldnt want to spend my fall and winters up North either.
We do have deep pockets at UT and I am extremely proud of us taking the lead in NIL from the start with Nico and being competititve with the top schools since. I don't think that we are 2nd to none financially though...and top to bottom I am not sure the SEC can outspend the Big10 financially either. We damn sure have better football teams from top to bottom though as they are extremely topheavy with only 4 schools that are legit every year: OSU, Mich, Ore, and PSU. The rest of their conference sucks compared to SEC schools and even those top 4 benefit from never playing anyone except sometimes eachother. Thats why the playoffs will be great. Lets get to 16 teams and see which conference is best.
We absolutely dominated the Big10 in basketball this season 14-2 in the challenge tourney...and I am not even sure why other conferences play baseball because the SEC is also dominant year in, year out in this sport. Theres a lot of money in the Big10 though in both donors and endowments. Theres a ton of money at the Texas schools too...they are gonna be in the top half of the SEC every year with decent coaches and all that $$$. I believe in CJH and our program though and think we can and will win a Championship soon.
Hopefully this isnât another 50/50 saga that ends with someone else coming out of left field to pull him away last minute. Tale as old as time when these drag out.
-WiltfongRivals No. 1 ranked running back in five-star Savion Hiter has his final four of Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee, but for a long time weâve felt this is coming down to the Wolverines and Vols. Michigan has always been a front-runner, but no program has gained more ground this year in the recruitment than Tennessee.
The Vols push continues with Hiter and the dialogue remains consistent.
IMO, we'd circle back on Amari Latimer. Who is from GA but a Wisconsin lean from what I've read.My question is, if we miss out on Hiter then who is our backup option?
