From Rivals:

The Chesterfield (Va.) Bird athlete has Penn State, Florida State and Tennessee as the three early standouts as he loves the weight room, the people, the campuses and the environments at those three programs. Going to a night game in Knoxville especially stood out to Whitehead who is not only looking at the football aspect in his recruitment but also looking for a “moment” that stands out.

Virginia and Virginia Tech will probably be the main schools that we will go up against for this prospect.

“I really wanted to come back down here because after watching the Alabama game, it did something to my heart, and just building a better relationship with Coach Chop since,” Whitehead said of what made him return to Knoxville. “So just watching that game and building that relationship made me want to come down here and get some work in.”
“I have a very good relationship with Coach Chop,” the elite prospect said of this. “He is very straightforward with me, and he is going to push me to be the best. Him pushing me shows that he loves me, so just knowing that him and Coach Banks will be there at Tennessee, if I do want to commit there one day, is definitely great to see.”
“So, they would use me as a LEO because I am a more versatile guy and can drop back and play in coverage or I can rush the passer or I can defend against the run,” Whitehead said. “Just doing all of that stuff in their scheme could build me up even more.”
“The culture,” he said of this. “The culture is different than most others.”
“Me watching the Alabama game definitely brought them up to the standard, but me building that relationship with Coach Chop even more and coming down here again boosts them up even more.”

Chris Whitehead returns to town this weekend, and the top-50 2027 EDGE rusher is one Coach Chop has paid close attention to. Tennessee made the most out of getting him into town this summer, and he has had this game day visit circled on his calendar since June. Tennessee will look to keep building momentum for the standout from Virginia.

No idea, and I also had no idea that this kid ended up @ Georgia two years ago...

“It was another great experience and an exciting atmosphere,” Whitehead’s father Chris said. “I mean the crowd and fans show do know how to support there team and Coach Chop, Coach Banks and Coach Heupel are great coaches and always express the appreciation for us coming, how they want my son to play for them. What I think stands out the most for Chris is that they always call and check on him and see how he is doing and of course he loves the atmosphere.

“Tennessee is really standing out to Chris.”
