I think those are the ones they put up in '99 when the 1st jumbotron was installed. The V O L S letters people want are the one that were there though the '98 season. Orange with white letters.

If he put the white goal post pads back up I'd be on board with the lifetime contract. These particular VOLS letters, I'd consider a week to week contract.

I thought Mike Chase of Calhoun's Restaurant Group bought them. Maybe someone can confirm or give the scoop.

Seems we may have an AD who listens to fans, and responds in a very positive way. That tweet also gives me the feeling he personally wants the UT back on top, not just the team, but hauling an incomparable fan base along. We already got a fine fan base, passionate, and travels well, but I think he wants more. If he keeps making the right moves, he might unleash a monster. We're Volunteer fans, we're awesome already. Give us back a winning team, we'll not just go nuclear, we'll go Tsar.

What is strange about all this, to me anyway, is that these should be easy wins for any AD. People love the letters, why not put them back up? It's an easy win. Similar to bringing back the Lady Vols branding. The girls loved it, the fans loved it, it became a tribute to Pat's memory... why take it away?

I don't see why it can't be both. I'm too young to remember the older ones (24)...but when I was a kid I do remember these on the Jumbotron.
