I'm looking at getting a parking pass through the University, and these are all they have remaining. Has anyone had any experience with any of these? Looking to set up a tailgate with tv, grill, tables of food, canopy...Do any of these have enough room, or should I look elsewhere? Also, how is traffic getting out to I40? Thanks

Lot 40 traffic to get out to me is great. That is one reason I love it. We live South of Knoxville so it is on the side of town that makes it closer.

If you are setting up a big tailgate then I would say Lot 40 just because I park there and could participate.

Seriously, I have not seen many tailgate but a few do so but on a small scale from what I have seen.

You're wasting your time of money with those parking places. They are several better than that that's free...500 State Street and Market Square Garages are free and Market Square has shuttle service. Also civic Coliseum parking is $10 and has a shuttle service for $5 a person.

I always use 40. Easy in and out if you live south or west. Also I enjoy walking up the strip before the game and especially after a win

I did not have a parking pass till last year. Glad I had it. One game could not get there as early as usual and did not have to worry because I knew I had a place with no issue. 18 bucks per game is not bad.

The only drawback about these is that bus service takes forever after the game. There are only 2 buses to lot 40 and UTVC and you will wait an hour, unless your timing is lucky, in line for a bus after the game.

Other than that, lot 40 is really easy to get in and quicker to get out.

Edited to add: Last year when I left, I always opted out of getting directly on I40 and went west on Kingston Pike or Sutherland and got on I40 near the mall.

I don't know how it would be if you are going east though.

I like not having to hunt a place as well. And parking in the same lot helps one understand the traffic patterns and what works well getting in and out.

I am back in the AG Campus this year. There is more traffic to deal with after the game, but there are lots more buses after the game.

That would cost me 30 instead of 18 and I get shuttle in lot 40. Maybe you are wasting money.

I thought about the AG and we do the walk instead of bus but you are correct about the bus issue to lot 40 from what I hear. The walk is only a mile and we stop to eat going and the vol store on the way back. I like to be moving. I requested it before AG this year but almost went AG. May try that next year.

Getting touchy? I can walk from market square in less than 20 minutes to Neyland only like .8 of a mile to gate 2. or 500 state st. which is about the same or you can park on side of road at parking meters for free with even less of walk. I have never had a hard time finding a place unless I got near Neyland with less than an hour to kickoff.

Not touchy just doing some math. The walk is 1.2 miles. Not much different than .8 and I need to do more walking than just football season so think of it as football and exercise. :)

I really like Locust. Parked there when I first got season tickets, left for a couple years, and then came back. Very easy to get in to and easy to leave especially if you're going east or north; as long as you exit on Walnut St and not Locust.

Not really any tailgating though.

Have you ever thought about Market Square Garage because it is free and only a block away? Just have to get there a couple of hours before kickoff. And there is a lot of restaurants around.

Hadn't considered it, thank you though. We normally get to the garage 45 minutes to an hour before kickoff though just to minimize amount of time we need a babysitter.

How is the tailgating on the side of the road?

I did not say anything about tailgating on side of road but I have tailgated on top of Market Square Garage and 500 State Street Garage and saved $20-30. Nothing wrong with parking passes but if over a mile not worth it to me paying that kind of money because I can find several cheaper or free within a mile or less. 🙄

Is there any tailgating in locust st garage? Unfortunately that's the pass I was assigned this year. Are there any closer places to park where you can tailgate and get out easier? Not necessarily with a parking pass. I live in east tn so access to i40 would be helpful

There's always at least a couple of groups on the top deck of the garage tailgating. It's just far enough off campus that most people don't tailgate there.

I finally started taking the Cat bus to AG and then walking the remainder. Bus service back is awful

Our family has been happy parking in a church parking lot on Cumberland for decades. It is not cheap but there is a traffic light to get back on Cumberland which is great help after game.
