Keith is hosting the signing show on utsports.com.
He is so knowledgeable about our program.
If he would consider doing radio play by play for Vols games on Saturday's and Titans games on Sunday's, I wish that he would.
I know at least three guys do this:
FSU/Bucs, Cal/49ers, Wes Durham - ACC TV games/Falcons.

Love to see Kesling moved into fund raising/administration.

They need to get him some phone books to stand on when he's next to Ainge.

Despite his blunders, I still prefer Kesling over Keith. MK comes across as way too arrogant. That said, I bet Kesling retires within 10 years and Keith will take over. Kesling must be about 60 and Keith is about 48 or so.

Edit: MK is a 1986 HS grad and Kesling is a 1977 UT grad. That makes Keith about 48 or 49 and Kesling most likely 61 or 62.

I love Mike Keith as an announcer. He is very enthusiastic and exciting. I wouldn't mind him calling our games one day but i doubt that will ever happen. No telling what the Titans are paying him.

I think that he's on the million dollar lifetime donor list at UT. I assume it's the same Michael Keith.

I don't like excessive, over-the-top excitement in an announcer--it's homerism. Some excitement, yes, but don't overdo it. Kesling, IMO, has actually become a very solid announcer. He's got a good voice.

Yeah, Kesling is great if you don't mind not knowing the score and the down and distance. I feel like solid announcers should be able to properly pronounce the names of those making plays. Solid announcers also rise to the occasion on historic plays. As painful as it was, consider the hobnail boot, consider Keith's music city miracle call. Kesling's "surprising turn of events" call on the hail mary against UGA was't even close.

Really? The best Kesling could do on the Dobbnail Boot was "what a turn of events." Now imagine Keith calling that. There are occasions where homerism is warranted.

In the age of cable, SEC Network, internet, streaming, etc. Do you guys keep up with the games on the radio THAT much? If I'm not at home, I stream the games on my phone through Kodi.

I don't mind MK yelling, but I don't think he's all that great at describing what's happening on individual plays. The great ones paint a picture for the listener.

MK is more like "Marriotta drops back, he's got a receiver, 50-40-30-20-10....dramatic pause....TOUCHDOWN TITANS!!!!...."

I mean, more happens on plays than he is able to communicate. Now that I notice it, it really gets on my nerves.

John Ward would eat his lunch.

Me neither. It sounds so phony.

Kind of like "five, four, three, two, one. . . did he get in? He did! Give him SIX"? All of the announcers have their trademark calls.

I like Mike!

Bob, not so much, but he is reasonably good at basketball. I think Bob does better because there are fewer names to know in BB. He still does a poor job of informing the listener of the score, time etc., at BB, but he is overall better at BB than FB.

Keith is far superior to Kesling. UT really blundered that hire years ago. We are stuck with Bob for the next 20 years at least.

you don't need an announcer to baby sit you though a game, if you don't know the score you weren't paying attention any way

You do realize that Priest ruined any opportunity for Kesling to make a call with his screaming after that play, right? By the time Bob could get a word in, the moment had passed.

Mike Keith should be compensated well for leaving the Titans and coming to UT. I would once again turn the sound off the T.V. and listen to Vols Radio. Haven't done it since Ward left. I just can't bring myself to listen to Kesling

Bob IMO has always been great at calling hoops games, let him remain with the bball games and let Mike take over the football calling.
