Not sure if someone has posted a similiar thread. Just wanted to get your thoughts on which player would be the Vols X-factor to a good season. We all know about Berry...any thoughts on any other players?

Offensive line and how it holds up during the season. We are very thin there right now. If it holds up, we should see an improved running game. This will hopefully soften up the D and help our passing game to improve. Time will tell.

I think the obvious is Brice Brown. I he is the second comming of Hershel...all bets are off.

Also, if people play away from Berry, another DB could have a very big year.

oh...considering last years' performance...any one else on the team could be the x-factor...my vote is crompton or the o-line.. i know, i'm captian obivious :detective:, but damn...last year anyone?

I am going a little off the radar but I'm going with Monte Kiffen. I really am actually interested in seeing how he adapts his Tampa 2 to the college game and how he defends the spread. It should be interesting.

Dan Williams. If this guy doesn't have a monster season, then the entire defense will suffer. He needs to create a huge push in the center in order to make life easier for UT's smaller defensive ends.

i think crompton is the x factor. If he can just keep himself from making turnovers and is able to sustain a drive or two in the second half it will do wonders for Tennessee since depth is an issue this year.

I'm going to go with Nuke. He can line up at so many positions and has the potential to break one when ever he touches it.

Chris Walker. UT hasn't had a great pass rush in a while so if he's wreaking havoc off the edge then offenses won't know what to do.

I actually think it will be our group of freshman WR's. They are being asked to step in early and I think if they can contribute it will be MAJOR. That is of course if Crompton decides to throw to his teammates instead of the DB's, but I have faith he will

The O-line is key, and a big time playmaker on the outside. Nuke could be that factor, but a freshman is key to mistakes, so you have to take the big plays with a bad one here and there.

You may be right. I also think Greald Williams could be a huge x-factor as Kiffin has been saying his name a lot. Especially being named a starter. On offense I love BB but watch out for Oku, the kid has been making play after play in practice along with Nuke. This year will be fun to watch. V O L S, GO VOLS GO

i honestly think whoever starts at FS could make or break our defense this year. every team knows what berry can do(everything), so they'll be tryin to stay away from him. and lone be hold if we can have a fs that can come up and bite a team in the ass when they're not expecting it is huge.

Mike Edwards on defense and Marsalous Teague on offense. Kiffin has had nothing but praise for both. Based upon the staff's track record for evaluating talent and with such high praise of the duo, I'm betting these two will make a big splash this year.

If we're talking upper classmen, why not Hardesty? If both remain healthy, he could be the James Stewart to Bryce Brown's Aaron Hayden. Just a thought...

So maybe Dennis Rogan? I've heard he's been lighting it up at safety

The obvious choice is Crompton, however I think Montori Hughes could be the biggest X factor. If he steps up and plays like the coaches say he can this fall I think our D-line is an entirely different group. D Williams, Hughes, Walker, G Williams, Martin, W Brown sounds like a good group if Hughes plays to potential.

I think D will have plenty of X factors...But I am going with Nick Reviez..He will be calling the defensive packages and making sure players are in the right spots before the play starts. That is a big role for a walk on...
Offense...Crompton for starters...But I would say Luke Stocker,A.Johnson and Kevin Cooper. Those guys are going to be used a ton during the year and we have not had a healthy tight end it seems in a while. But every good running back loves to have a good fullback. I think if they block well our running game will be great.
But our X factor is the stable of RUNNING BACKS we have. We have speed, power and elusiveness with a really good running backs coach.
I hope this is a good year...I am so ready to see them bust out of that "T" next Saturday...GO VOLS

Right now, Sullins. If he was really neck and neck with McNeil then UT might be OK. If they were just playing mindgames with JM then it could get rough.

This late into fall camp, every snap is extremely valuable. There is no way they take those snaps away from McNeil just to play mind games at this point. Sullins was often starting over him in the practices/scrimmages - while you can do that in the spring and early fall as a mind game, if you keep it up as long as our staff did, there is merit to it, IMO.

Hope you are right and the comments about Sullins staying in the race by being more physical as well.
