When Tennessee Vol athletics director Mike Hamilton gave David Blackburn, the associate AD for administration, the additional title of director of football operations, the official "line" was it would save the athletics department money by combining two jobs. But in less than a week, the department announced the promotion of football "support assistant" Heather Ervin to assistant director for football operations. In other words, she's Blackburn's new assistant, the 18th associate or assistant athletics director or the equivalent. I don't see any savings there. Hamilton and his people have a difficult time coming in contact with the truth.

Gilbert is perhaps the worst columnist I've ever read. . .which is why he still writes from the Maryville-Alcoa Daily Times. . .

My advice to Gilbert would be to close his eyes and run quickly onto an interstate at 5 PM. His type of idiocy is right there with the imbecile Jim Calhoun lit up the other day.

Some moronic "activist" hustled a credential for Calhoun's press conference after the game Saturday. He started asking some ridiculous questions about Calhoun's salary and the current economic downturn. Calhoun essentially told him to go kill himself.
