The VolNation may not see it now, but if in fact Coach Dooley does go to UT, you will be getting the best young coach around and a fine man. As a Tech alum, I have had the privlage over the past few years to see Derek's work at the University and around the community. He has taken a program out of the depths and has revitalized it and has brought a vision to the school and the community of what Tech will one day be. Derek and his family have been a huge asset to our small community that we would hate to see go.

Check out the following links about Derek in his time at Tech:

If in fact the Dooleys to make their way to Knoxville, take care of them as your own. They are fine people.

I checked out the info on Dooley a few minutes ago after hearing Jimmy Hyams say he was in on The Animal. He sounds like a good up and coming coach with a great pedigree (albeit from GA) I am willing to give him a chance. I hope he can keep Kippy, Lance and Jim Chaney (I think he worked with Thompson before so maybe Lance stays). He was responsible for great recruits with Saban at LSU so that sounds good too. Maybe he can bring in a couple more young assistants with Vol ties

He has a son named Peyton-- how cool is that?

NFL experience. Worked under Saban. Other coaches respect him. I am open to it.

Problem is... If Dooley is in fact the coach there will only be about 12 fans left to welcome him to Knoxville.....

The only thing that bothers me about this is the Georgia connection. Will he bail for Georgia given the chance?

That will be 4 more fans than commits. May as well kiss all of the non EE's goodbye. If they wanted to play for Dooley they would have gone to Lousiana Tech.

Tyler Bray got screwed over so bad in this whole deal. Will probably transfer after his freshman year and go back to Cali. Pry wishes he would have gone to San Diego State. At least Brady Hoke got that one QB to the NFL. Nate Davis or whatever his name was.

He went 17-20 at La Tech. What a terrible hire.

Goodbye Mike Hamilton. You obviously don't care about this program, it's time for you to go.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and show your support of the coach. Let's hope he does well as a Vol.

A mid-level WAC coach who had an awful offense this year. Anyone wondered why his own alma mater, UVA, didn't give him a second look? I know some of his former players that hated playing for him.

Anyone else find it interesting that Dooley is HC and AD. Maybe he's being hired as AD to replace Hamilton.

Thanks for the post.

I will give him my support if he is our guy, but most people on here are not going to be happy...

Lane Kiffin's record was worse...

And he also brought one of greatest defensive coordinators ever. Not to mention Ed O was a former head coach. Essentially he had two head coaches working underneath him.

Also, let's not get compare coaching in the NFL to coaching in WAC.

 nope, Tyle is a true Vol now. He will be a great leader for the Vols and I am thankful for his wonderful parents. They taught him good values unlike MC did for Lane K. I think this coach will be good for the players. He needs to get Al Wilson as LB coach. Keep Chaney, Thompson, and Brown. TN will be ok. If this is so and it is, lets get behind him. Remember our players that are there now have good character.

I think he was hired but not as the Head Coach. He was hire as a position coach for the new head coach. There is more here than we think.
