Rivals MB seems to think so. Nearly everyone agreed on UT. I attend UT, and I've always been embarassed by how old and run down most of our buildings look. There is a renovation project planned for the entire campus almost, but as for now I think they aren't far off. Campus needs to develop a more "collegiate" feel imo.

Thoughts?

As I remember Starkville was garbage. Pure trash. I don't think Auburn was much to write home about, either.

As for Knoxville, we've got fall leaves and that's about it.

UT's campus is no worse than Ole Miss's, Florida's, Auburn's. I remember liking Bama's campus and LSU's campus when I visited. Starkville is simply terrible though.

From what I hear, Ole Miss' student "body" more than makes up for the below average architecture and landscape.

Ole Miss' campus is absolutely gorgeous. I will have to disagree with you there. It also has that Southern antebellum kind of feel to it.

I think the mish-mash of outdated architectural styles on UT's campus is what makes it look rag-tag. I.e. Hodges, the "Spam Can", Humanities, and Pres Court look very different than The Hill

One thing I'll say about UT, Ayres hall has to be one of the most beautiful academic buildings in the country. If any of you haven't seen it since renovation, stop in before a football game.

Bama has a beautiful campus. Their parking is also much better for gamedays than ours...Terrible wait in traffic coming to and from the stadium though.

Every campus has great Greek buildings on it. You take those away, and Ole Miss has a few historic buildings (as does UT) and the rest is blockish, greyish brick buildings built on a dirt patch.

Nearly everywhere you look at UT, renovations are ongoing. Knoxville has other draws too, as in it's not in middle of freakin' nowhere. There are actually interstates, restaurants, and airports; it's a real city. Some of these SEC towns are 2-3 hours off the beaten path. Athens is probably my favorite town in the SEC, but even only being an hour from Atlanta, it is still a nightmare to get to.

Ole Miss has a great campus. I love Tennessee but its hard to argue with that. I've been to all of them and Starkville is the only one that I would say is worse.

I'd put their girls on par with UT's, LSU's and S. Car's. The differentiating factor is that there is a super high ratio of dbag Ole Missy guys, so the OM ladies are usually more...."available".

If UT would buy out the railroad and push that operation to the other side of the river, UT could extend their campus all the way to the river. Add a park, some dorms on the waterfront, get rid of the Spam-Can, the humanities tower, and the humanities building, and UT would look much, much better.

I remember going to KA parties at OM and the girls were very easy on the eyes but very stuck up.

How is this possible? UT might be a little outdated, but it is clean and being updated all over campus. What is so alluring to Gainesville? I thought UF campus was trashy and dirty. Reminded me of the nastiness that was UC (Cincinnati) in the 90's. Garbage. UF's campus was the worst I visited in my college days.

I would have to agree with the hodgepodge of architectural styles sentiment. If all the buildings were in the same style as Ayres, our campus would be beautiful. Presidential courtyard is one of the ugliest areas I've seen on a college campus. The building styles did not stand the test of time, and there isn't a speck of grass in the courtyard.

One of the major problems is the lack of grass on campus as a whole. I think the pedestrian walkway is a pretty nice area, and the hill is of course awesome. Everywhere else just seems to be asphalt and concrete. I think they're taking steps in the right direction with their "Master Plan" to get everything up to par.

You weren't doing something right then.

My thoughts exactly...

I graduated from UT in 2008, but not familiar with the "spam can"? Which building is this?

Auburn's campus is not very impressive although I like their stadium. Its still in the middle of nowhere... The nice thing about Knoxville was there was a small city, and your close to the mountains. One of the main reasons I went out of state to Tennessee was because there was so much stuff to do around the campus.
