I realize it's still early, but dang, these team stats should get any UT baseball fan excited. Our batting is as good as last year if not a tad better (honestly, there isn’t much higher they can go batting-wise). But our pitching is crazy dominant so far through 11 games. At this same time last year, I think most would agree that our pitching was probably slightly above average (in terms of SEC and top 50 teams nationally), but nothing close to what we are seeing so far this year. While this group may not win another natty, collectively, they may be more talented than last year's NC team. I've watched six full games so far this year and all three games this past weekend, and, oh man, are they a lot of fun to watch. So much talent! It will be interesting to see how this team's chemistry continues to evolve over the course of the next 2-3 months. No doubt this much talent is a blessing, but SECCs and NCs ultimately come down to team chemistry and being able to elevate your teams' game on the biggest of stages. That stuff never shows up on a stat line. That said, CTV has proven to be a master at developing a strong, positive team culture in Knoxville. Going to be a fun ride again in 2025!

Sorry, I noticed that the batting avg stat got cut off. We are currently sitting tied at #15 in that stat line. IMO, OBP, slugging %, and Runs Scored matter more. At the end of the day, this team doesn't seem to swing at a lot of bad pitches. They work over the pitchers and find a ways to score runs.

I remember reading from a lot of sports writers that Tennessee hit so many home runs because Lindsey Nelson Stadium was a small field. Most surmised Tennessee wouldn't hit as many home runs in bigger stadiums, and the big fields at Omaha. Still won the SEC and the NC. Watching the Astros Classic, Tennessee hit some bombs in that Stadium. I don't think there is a shortage of power on this team.

It's such a tired argument at this point. First, opposing teams get to play in the same stadium when we're at home, but they don't seem to take advantage of the short fences nearly as much as we do. Why not? Second, if our park is so hitter-friendly, doesn't that make our pitching success even more impressive? I don't hear about that nearly as much. And third, to your point, our hitters seem to be knocking them over the fence a lot even when they're not playing at home.

It's jealousy grasping for any criticism it can find.

People will just say Daikin Park is the MLB version of Lindsey Nelson Stadium with that short porch in LF. There really is not much difference in the dimensions other than deep Left Center and CF being significantly deeper. 10 homers in 3 days at a MLB stadium should be celebrated but that will be the external narrative. Always will be. Just keep winning and they will eventually find something else to complain about.

Daikin Park Dimensions (LNS Dimensions):

LF: 315ft (320ft)
Left Center: 366-399ft (360ft)
CF: 409ft (390ft)
Right Center: 370ft (360ft)
RF: 320ft (320ft)

No doubt this team is talented. But, seems like once they get a big lead they tend to lax alittle bit and get sloppy. Tony V will get this cleaned up. This team is exciting to watch for sure tho!

I wonder how many we hit at home last year vs on the road.
