I'm liking how we've got 4 starters over 6'6, and they only have 2. We should be posting them up all day long.

THe thing that is going to help us is that they love to run, and nobody can outgun us. While i though we got screwed on the 9 seed, this is prolly the 8 seed i want to play b/c were bigger, and they love to run. When UT plays fastbreak teams, we usually do pretty good. When teams like to slow it down, then we get screwed.

It's clear that the Cowboys are a guard-oriented team with good three-point shooting--they're seven percentage points better than UT*from beyond the arc. I'm not sure how many treys they take a game, on average--but how well UT defends the three, or how well they shoot the three, is sure to be a big factor in the outcome. We've got a size advantage, but their guards will probably give us problems.

I would love to see it turn into the Wayne/Tyler/Bwill show too. Only hope we can rebound better than we did last game.

I do think that pounding the ball inside will greatly increase our chances. Only thing is, in the flex offense, our bigs will frequently pop out to the top of the key. You have to combat this with someone like Prince slashing to the basket.

I think it would be awesome if, just for a minute or 2, Pearl would have this lineup just to see what would happen.

PG Maze
SG Hopson
SF Chism
PF Tyler
C Negedu / Williams

I think that this could really give OSU some fits as we pound pound pound.

I also realize that we would have all these bigs on the floor and someone would jack up a three.

We really need a big game from Williams. If he can be a beast on the inside against these smaller players, there should be no reason he won't have a field day against them.

Going out on a limb and saying JP Prince will be the star of the game!

Just because I dont think anyone can guard him one on one when he drives to the lane and if he has a guy that is only 5"10 or 5'11 on him it will be the "Salute Shower" from JP all game! I figure the 6'5 guy will have to check Scotty! We should do them exactly like we did Alabama... "powerhouse the paint!"
If we come out shooting well we should be just fine in this game. Tyler Smith and Chism have got to be all over the basket with put backs and getting fouled and going to the line. Chism could also be the MVP of this game. Dont see anyone on their Roster that can match up with his size and quickness. Williams should be able to body just about anyone of them when he comes in as well.

Tennessee's size will give OSU some problems in this game. However, Eaton and Anderson will likely score at will in this game, as we have seen what good perimeter players can do to Tennessee on many occasions this season. I think this game comes down to Tennessee's inability to guard the outside shot and OSU walks.

Final Score
OSU 90
UT 80

One thing I will say about us though is that we suck at feeding the post.

We don't do a bad job of getting the ball inside when they try, but most of the time, they want to jack up a three, try a running layup, Maze will do a cross-over pull-up, or Tyler will try to do his crazy drive thing.

If I were Tennessee I wouldnt look too much into Malcoln Kirkland. Honestly he shouldnt be playing D1 basketball, so as the 3rd person off the bench in this scouting report I would put Nick Sidorkis. He is pretty much a 2 guard that can handle the ball a little bit and hit from the outside if he is on. Pretty good defender and can rebound on long rebounds (career high is 6) so it isnt too impressive.

You guys can pound the ball inside all day long if you want, but if you cant hit a mid range jumper or a 3 it will be a long day. OSU rotates pretty well from double teams (because we have had to do it a lot this year being undersized) We also have really good on the ball defenders in Eaton (OSU's all time steals leader) Harris (who in his senior year because a shut down defender with Marcus Dove gone) the only real defensive problem we have is Keiton Page because he is 5'7... but the kid can stroke it!!

Also, OSU averages 10 made 3 pointers a game.. We have also set OSU records in 3 pointers made and 3 pointers taken this year. Also single game records or 3's made in a game. So if we are ON (unlike we were against Missouri in the Big 12 championship 4 for 24) we can be deadly!

Does OSU like the matchup?

Honestly I dont. But some people on the OSU message boards like it a lot. I just dont like playing teams that are bigger than us ( mostly everyone.) I do however like the matchup for OSU at the PG position. Also I think anyone that has to guard James Anderson is in for a LONG day
