UT/LSU 2005

it was a hell of a game. I was a junior and living at one of those off-campus apartment complexes in The Fort. The entire complex came alive after the game was over. I remember people running naked through the parking lot. Rick Clausen really came through that game.

We haven’t beat LSU since that game. That 05 team should have been a really good team. Time to break another streak. Hope this team can focus and be ready for another tough opponent. GBO!

Tennessee was completely out of sync at the start of that game, probably due to flying down that morning instead of the night before. Once they got Ainge outta there & settled down, they were the better team.

Watched the game at the Marriott Westshore with the Tampa UT Alumni group.
Down 21-0 at the half and 24 -7 in the 4Q, it didn’t lol good. The defense held and the offense found a way to win.
I have never heard such a small group of people make so much noise!

and then...there was THIS

This was the very definition of pain. I mean, I've truly never seen a crew review a final play to ensure the winning team had the appropriate number of players on the field. I still feel this one to this day.

My how the game has changed... I miss the "let all the big boys figure it out" old school goal line mentality. I thought we got a taste of it against Florida this year... but being a big boy... I miss it.

I got so, so hammered at that game. That was the last time I’ve gotten that bad in public. Granted I was young. But jeez.

When I think of TN-LSU games, I always go to the SEC championship game where Ainge had his short route wide open but tried for the deep man and threw an INT to lose the game. I prefer these games.

2001 LSU was fraught with fumbles and missed opportunity. Right before half we had three long passes up the left sideline that all missed but were all open. Two to Stallworth & one to KW. Nobody could tackle their back up running back or their back up quarterback in the second half. A game we easily could have won but we basically left on the table for them to take. And they did. Cost us an SEC Title & a matchup with Miami that would have been awesome.

Rick Clausen with his shorts throws beat them, rest of the yr every team dared him to throw deep

Still remember watching as a 10 year old on ESPN. I remember the game being moved due to the hurricane. Les Miles' first home game, if I'm not mistaken.
If you search hard enough, you'll find posts in here where we are laughing at Miles on the sideline in the 1st quarter trying to coach while wearing an ear piece and boom mic that looked like something Brittney Spears would use. Dude seriously thought he was going to hear something using that.

There have been some heart breakers in this series for sure. One that stands out other than the 2010 game is 2006—4th and forever, and they converted.

Oh my! I don’t remember that, but that’s hilarious.

2005 Team had a lot of talent but couldn't put it together as a team. A 5-6 finish should have been damn near illegal.

I would remember that game more fondly if we hadn't finished the season 5-6. Remember being so excited for the season after that game and it all fell apart pretty quickly.
