Tennessee leads nation in attendance at midway point in season
Through six games, the midway point of the college football regular season, more people have witnessed a Tennessee game in person than any other school in the nation. The school announced this week that, so far, 659,875 people have attended a Volunteers football game this season.
For perspective, that total is more than the entire current population of Wyoming (586,107) and Vermont (626,042), according to a United States Census Bureau estimate in July 2015.
In fact, by the end of November, the Volunteers will likely leave the million mark far behind. They play six more games during the regular season, including four at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville with its official capacity of 102,455.
