Given his renewed popularity, renewed sense of winning, and the sensational football team and staff he's assembled, it's time to start counting down the number of wins our revered Coach Fulmer needs to become the Winningest Coach in UT Football History.

He needs 26 more to tie General Neyland!

That's well within the norms for three CPF seasons, so predicting that would be too easy. Instead, I say the Vols bring home 26 wins in the next two seasons.

So, when will it happen? It will occur before our sophomore class graduates. Plan on it. The Vols will tie the record when they win the 2009 SEC Championship Game. They'll break it in the Granddaddy of them all-- The Rose Bowl!

The date: January 7th, 2010.

That is the site for the National Championship Game.

For the record, use this thread to record whether you think this timing is too optimistic, too pessimistic, or to note that I count on seeing you in Pasadena.

It will be Fulmer's last game as Head Coach! After that happens, what else is left for CPF to accomplish?

Go Fulmer! Go Vols!

General Robert R. Neyland will always be UT football.

With that said, I'll be the first to congratulate Fulmer on a good career.

revered? That might be the biggest overstatement I've ever seen.

Who reveres him and which other fanbase in the world would grant you legend status for him?

Hallucinations are scary sometimes. Watch some old game-films to return to reality.:)

his grip on history is stronger than yours on reality.

There's nothing more real than reality. That's what those wins are. And, everytime you discount them, you discount what so many of his players have accomplished.

You need to get a grip. This is an accomplishment of not one man, but of many. It is a team sport. And you are nowhere close to being smart enough or important enough to deny the reality that this accomplishment marks.

I'm clearly the one without a grip here. Our guy could go three more seasons with no additional conference titles, pass Neyland and finish his career with 2 conference titles and 1 NC. That ain't legendary and doesn't invoke anything remotely akin to reverence.

Or, he could do what I predicted. Win it in the Rose!

That's reverence!

And, I will enjoy every darn minute of it! Find some place in your heart to soak in what could be the most exciting part of UT history that you and I have any chance of living.

Go Vols!!!!

Which of the 147 wins thus far is your favorite?

I liked the last two Georgia games a lot. Also, 2001 Florida. Most all of the games in 1998. On the flip side, games I would like to forget. Oh, I guess I've forgotten them already. An example of classic selective memory I suppose.

That would be utterly ignorant. Unlike many of the NegaVols here, CPF is not ignorant.

Ignorance is simultaneously arguing that Fulmer is a legend but Urban Meyer is not a great coach because of one great season at Florida. You're a stumbling oaf that no one takes seriously. Don't ever call another poster ignorant.

That's good for your health. Although, I'm pretty sure I know which two more recent games we're selectively forgetting.:dance2:

Urban Meyer is a fad.

You will not be evaluating BPV's intelligence.

And with last year's home record, the Vols are taking that field back! Add two more seasons of domination on that field, and Fulmer Field it should be!

I hope not. History and tradition should be revered. I respected the fact the UGA BoT refused to name their field or stadium after Vince Dooley, who has, at least, as impressive a record as Phil.
