Just curious if you ever decided on anything. I know you were looking into getting one that had some "altercations" on it.

He told me he was buying one. I was going to mod one for him and send it down but I've been way too busy as of late. Plus, I'm a procrastinator and odds are it would take awhile.

I suggested he pick up a Xenium ICE chip since they are simple to put in.

I'm awfully happy with my softmod... the only drawback is no being able to play on xbox Live!

Can't you boot to the Microsoft startup screen and bypass the mod? Won't live work that way? Or not?

I do use XBConnect, but there are so many cheaters and jerks on there, I only play with ppl I know...

On the note of booting straight off the DVD, the problem comes when it tries to "update" to XBL 2.0, or in the next couple of weeks 3.0, it will find modded fonts, etc. and not allow a login.

If I were willing to take the time to remove the softmod, then login to XBL and get the updates, then reinstall the mod I could, but I'm too lazy for that, and I like the way I have it setup now.

There are cheaters and jerks on XBox live as well. I've given up playing Halo 2 online. Only LAN parties against my friends from now on.

Although I do have to go to the University of Oregon sometime for Halo... All their dorms are connected together on a LAN, and everybody plugs their XBox in so UO always has a giant Halo 2 network going on. It's about the coolest damn thing I've ever heard of.

Don't you think UT has a similar thing going?

I am in Birmingham on a co-op right now, and a guy that goes to UA-Tuscaloser said "Hey, I hear they are smokin' good at Halo 2 up there in Knoxville."

and of course... we are.

I was pretty darned good at Live until I quit... I got my ranking up to a 25. ;) But I am kinda bad now because I havent played in a while.
