This thread will be used to make your predictions for the SEC Tournament. The tournament begins Tuesday, May 23rd in Hoover, Ala****. The rules are listed below.

If you need help understanding the bracket format, here's a helpful link: '23 SEC Baseball Tournament

1. Each player will pick the number of wins they believe Tennessee will have in the SEC Tournament before 11:59 pm on May 22nd, 2023. Any submissions made after that time will not be accepted.

2. Each player will bid at least 1 point of their already accumulated points. Ex: If you believe Tennessee will win 3 games in the SEC Tournament, comment "3" and the number of points you would like to bid. If you need to know how many points you have, please wait till after the South Carolina series and then check the Season Standings thread.

3. No player may more bid points than they have at the beginning of the SEC Tournament.

4. If a player loses all of their points, they are eliminated from future post season rounds.

5. Scoring:
Exact: Player gets the number of points they bid added to their total
Off by 1 win: Player loses half the points they bid
Off by 2 wins: Player loses all the points they bid
Off by 3 or more wins: Player loses the number of points they bid, plus 10% of the bid.

6. Any player that does not submit a pick and a bid, will be assessed a penalty of 25% of the total points they held at the beginning of the SEC Tournament.

If anything weird happens throughout the remainder of the postseason, (cancelled games, schedule shift, etc) I will be sole arbiter of how to fairly proceed. The appeal process is as follows:

A. STFU
B. You're were probably going to lose anyways

Are there 11 possible games in the tourney if you are seeded 5 or lower? Am I reading this right?

Do Rules 1 and 6 contradict each other?
I don't think so. The intent of Rule #1 is to set a time frame for picks and bids to be submitted. Rule #6 is stating that if a player does not submit a pick, they will be penalized.

Is there something I'm missing?

6 says something about a particular round. 1 implies we list TOTAL victories in tournament. I think it's the "round" thing. Unless each round is the remainder of the CWS?

The SEC Tournament is difficult to understand. I definitely recommend reading the link provided. It may help to google last year's tournament bracket to see how it all played out.

But the condensed version is this: Round 1 is single elimination. Rounds 2, 3, & 4 are double elimination. Rounds 5 and 6 are single elimination. The bracket with teams filled in will be published Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Ah, I see. That is confusing. I'll change the text to make more sense. The intent of "round" was to differentiate between the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Regional tournament. But you're right, after rereading it, it is confusing.

my bad.

So 6 games for a Cinderella Team (starts 1-1) that plays every game possible.

Yes. The eventual winner will play either 4, 5, or 6 games. Depending on their original seeding and whether they lose a game in the double elimination rounds.

If we beat Tam and then lose the first game to Arky, do we play Arky again, or go into a losers bracket to play whomever? I assume we play Arky again.

I have updated the season standings and recorded your prediction, if I have "liked" your comment.
