The problem that teams have had against the bama defense is very simple. Bama does not miss tackles therefore not a high Yac or yards after first hit. Tennessee has speed but has to get openings for big yardage so we dont have to worry about converting on 3rd and longs. We cant afford that many short yardage plays if, we get big chunks of yardage and control the clock there is a very high chance we win this game

Rollout for sure! I have noticed that Alabama doesn't really get going till the 2nd half. We should come out with a big boom!!! Berry got to crank it up for sure

It all starts with shutting down their run game
If our D can do that it will put the ball in Mcelroy's hands and I don't think he is good enough to beat our secondary.

Our O will have to play the best ball of the season thus far.
Bamas D is for real.

This should be a great game. I see it being close the whole way with Bama adding a late td to put it away.

Bama - 24
UT - 13

I hate to say it but Bama's Defense is for real. Those guys play just as good as any defense in the country. We have to roll out some on offense and throw it down field just so they will not stack the box as often. Got to stop Ingram he is a BEAST!!! Stop him and shutdown Jimmy shouldn't be to hard. F the Tide GO VOLS

This should be a great matchup. 2 of the best defenses in the country going at it. I think UT will force Bama to throw and it and Bama will do the same to UT. The edge their I believe goes to Bama because of Julio Jones. However, I can see this game being very close and special teams could also play a factor. If Crompton plays like he has been, you have shot at beating them but I am going to say Bama wins something like 20-10.

I have two major concerns going into this game:
1) the team coming out a little rusty, slow or unfocused after the buy week
2) Crompton (and our receivers) reverting to his old mistakes...

After seeing the way the bammers have been playing this year, I have little confidence of us pulling this one off, but that being said, GO VOLS!!! BEAT cheatin' bama!!!

Bama gives up just a little speed to gain size in their front 7. Bama's style does give UT a window of opportunity with a strong run game and PA passing.

Offensively, their RB's are very good as are their WR's. They haven't always been great on the OL. But I think McElroy is the real weak link. He's heady and a good game manager but isn't a top shelf talent from a physical standpoint. He struggled against an Ole Miss D with similar talent to UT's D (sans Monte).

If Tennessee doesn't score against Bama it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It's easier for me to think about this game defensively. I like Monte's chances, and you can come up with a scenario that's gives TN a way to win.

Monte uses the bye week to come up with a scheme to disguise his intentions on D. The Vol D swarms to the ball and UA can't run the ball successfully. This puts the onus on McElroy, who hasn't had to win a game yet and he gets rattled. He starts making bad throws from the pressure, and EB breaks the record.

The bad news is that if I try the same scenario from Bama's prespective it works too, and it's probably more likely. Add to it the special teams challenges we have and the mountain gets higher.

I'm still hoping for a win, but we are going to need some real attitude to pull this off.

I have only read OP so i don't know what was said after, but there is no scenario you can conjure that gives us " a very high chance of winning this game", unless it is something like 3\4 of Alabama team trips over itself coming out of the tunnel and can't play. That doesn't mean we have no chance, but take off the orange glasses, it probably just isn't in the cards this year.

Chris Low's chart is stupid. I imagine a chart like that with TN's opposing QB is similar.

You're probably right except for the Ohio game. Hopefully our defense makes McElroy struggle, because Chris Low's stats do suggest Crompton could have a really rough game.

Here is the bottom line on why we should feel excited:

Monte Kiffin destroys even talented offenses that are pro style.

Crompton is now a Christian and is less freaked out so he can play better.

Alabama will be overlooking TN, and unlike against VT, will not be able to score at will.

Montario Hardesty and a rested up Bryce Brown are hungry and will sacrifice their bodies to break the big runs.

All of that said,
Alabama has so much more talent on paper than TN it is overwhelming. If TN loses by less than 17 it is a moral victory.

Bamma will not overlook us... CNS will not allow it

We've got something for Julio. You just wait and see.
