If they were to become bowl eligible I don't believe we would play again. I personally would rather beat someone else.

saw an article headline saying MCB was looking at them and made me think about it.....didn't know about the acc thing......also would enjoy sticking it to franklin again.....

Music City Bowl has a SEC tean vs a ACC team. I think it use to be a Big Ten team vs a SEC team but it changed. I tell you this if Tennessee is in the Music City Bowl there will be a sell out. If Vandy playes there no sell out. You can count on that.

MCB wont take Vandy even if they're eligible. Tn either since we were just there last year. A bowls goal is to maximize revenue. With Tn being in it last year there will be a slight decrease in the traveling fan. There is no traveling fan with Vandy plus they were just there a couple of yrs ago.

Respectfully disagree about them not inviting Tennessee again. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure last year was the only sell-out in MCB history. They don't generally even come close. I think we end up in Nashville again, assuming we get bowl eligible.

Understand and I too could be wrong. Yes it was either the only or first complete sell out of the MCB but that's the reason my guess is they wont take us. In the bowl world, been there/done that=fewer people. Again, they want to maximize revenue, not get the "best" team. Good traveling teams will weigh more favorably.

Assuming LSU, Bama, Ark, Ga, and SC will probably go to the NC game, Sugar, Cap 1, Cotton, and Outback in some order. Chick Fil A gets next pick and Aub will prob have the better record of the remaining. Gator next and they'll likely take homey Fla or Gator and Chick will flip flop. That leaves UT, Van, Miss St (assuming all win out). MCB and Liberty work with the SEC on these picks. My guess is MSU goes to Nashville and UT to Liberty. MSU hasnt been to Nashville or if they have its been a long while. Same with the Vols in Memphis which prevents back to back trips to same location. Last pick is Compass and it leaves them with Vandy. Their fans dont travel well anyway so MCB and Liberty would rather take teams that actually go to the game.

Landscape might change after this weekend so this might be moot anyway.

I agree about the goal being to maximize revenue. But your theory implies that Mississipi State would bring more fans to Nashville, Tennessee than Tennessee would. I also agree that it might not be a sellout again, but even if only 85% of the tickets get sold, that's a lot more than the 10,000 tickets MSU would be able to sell.

I think your distaste for teams playing in the same bowl in consecutive years- which happens quite a bit- is getting in the way of essential truth #1 about college football. As you previously, correctly stated- its all about the Benjamins.

But like you said- it will all be a lot clearer after this weekend. For now, we just need to beat Kentucky.

Vandy would not sell out LP field in Nashville for the Music City Bowl. I am pretty sure when we kick Kentucky azz Saturday the Music City Bowl will want Tennessee. With the way things are now a days, Tennessee would sell out there. That is the main thing. You know Miss St, Vandy would not sell it out. It would be eiasier for our fans to go to Nashville. Next year our fans better get read to travel to a big bowl.
