More info on Fulmer for AD issue published in the USA Today. I don't understand why these former TN players think because he was a football coach, he now should be the Director of all Althetic programs at the university?

Former Tennessee players speak out for
Phillip Fulmer for AD - Campus Rivalry:

Well then he will have to be promoted immediately

If Fulmer WILL(<-- key word) work hard he'd be a good AD. If not, then it'll be worse.

Yea, its crazy huh? Why all these guys who probably know PF better than any of us...more educated about UT than many of us....have way more invested in UT than most of us....what makes them think they know more about who should be AD than us? Dummies.

"Coach Fulmer knows how big business operates, not just the football program," former All-America defensive back Jason Allen said, according to the Times Free Press. "He was always like the CEO of our team because he knew everything that was going on with every position, on both sides of the ball, as well as our personal lives ... Whether it was with the coaching staff, the players or anybody involved in the program, he's a very bright guy and someone that all of us who love the university know would always do what's right for UT."

I don't understand why fans think that just b/c Fulmer ended his career poorly as a football coach, that he would NOT be a good AD...

Loyal to a fault. Gotta respect them, but hell no to Fulmer as AD.

Just because you were once a good coach doesn't mean you would be a good AD - For Example, I doubt anyone would say Bobby Bowden should be the AD at Florida State?

Because people think being a football coach and being an AD are the same thing and easily comparable.

The same doofuses want Chris Burke as the baseball coach, because being a mildly successful player obviously makes you a great coach.

Given your reasoning, then being a bad coach doesn't necesarily make you a bad AD either, right? So not really sure what you are getting at here.... Based on Jason Allen's quotes, it doesn't seem like he is saying Fulmer would be a good AD b/c he was a good coach, but rather because of the administrative/CEO traits that Allen witnessed - which is correlated to being a good AD

Why would they want the person who ran our football program into the ground? He wouldn't have coach Cutcliff to do his work.

One of my concerns would be Fulmer hiring all coaches, when he hired Clawsen and all of his D II assistants as OC, and offensive staff prior to the 2008 season. That didn't work out too well.

I suspect that a qualification on the job description will be an MBA. That rules Fulmer out.
