The fact of the matter is we hired a 3 star coach..Hope he grows up to be a 4 star o 5 star coach. Then maybe we get 4 star and 5 star recruits. We needed a coach that the 5 stars would flock to, and unfortunately the flock has gone to the greener pastures. 3 star recruits arent hopeless but you need some 5 stars that will work and become elite talent in the mix with those 3 stars.

Like you, I was wondering how A&M could exceed the 25 player limit...given they're now at 35. Here's how it has been explained over on TexAgs....

A&M undersigned last year...in part due to Sherman's firing and Sumlin taking over in December. They lost a few recruits and missed on several others, resulting in a class that had 9 open slots. Of the 35 commitments, 9 will enroll next week, meaning they'll count toward last year. That leaves 26...and rumor has it that one or two won't make it due to grades.

There's nothing wrong with recruiting 3 stars, lots of coaches make a good living out of it at some of the smaller school's, But you have to do more work in recruiting them. A 5* you would just put on your team no matter what, but when you have to go after the 3* you have to look for the ones that have the most potential, as maybe they need to grow a little, put on some weight, maybe they come from a smaller school that dosen't garner the same attention as the bigger HS. and then you have to recruit kids that best fit your system. It is easier if you can get all of the top ranked recruits, but with the hard work you can do good with getting 3* kids.

Cut me some slack man. I was busy learnin' to make cookies and sammiches while y'all were busy learnin' blitzes and sacks. :p
