If you'll notice, it was "all or nothing" for Air Force in the option. Either they gained 6-7+ or NIL (whoever said that in the game thread had me laughing).

It's the expected national media type viewing versus those who have more time to focus on 1 or 2 games.

Coaches of other teams and sportscasters don't have the time to examine anything, so they go on final scores and basic stats. NOBODY on ESPN or at cbssportsline or wherever will say "Forget about it, Tennessee played against a perfect triple option." They'll say "TENNESSEE ALMOST LOST TO AIR FORCE< THEY SUCK"

Well, luckily for you your game ended pretty late for East Coast folks. Plus, FSU did you a favor by trying their hardest to lose to, gulp, Troy State. Had you lost to AF, it would have been a big deal upset. But if FSU lost to Troy State, that would have been considered by some a sign of the Apocalypse.

There were a lot of missed tackles tonight. I hope this D has the discipline to read keys better. Lack of depth at end hurt UT when Harrell went out with an elbow injury. Hopefully Fisher will step up this week. If you are going to play small and fast on the outside you cannot miss tackles.

It is, but as you know, the coach cannot be on the field and hold their hands. I'm pretty sure they didn't expect perfection from the opposition's offense. The entire defense did play well AGAINST THE OPTION, but in terms of hitting, speed, etc, looked EXCELLENT. I fully believe you will see the D you saw against Cal.

Florida is not Cal. You'll have to be better than that.

But, I agree with what you say about him not being out there on the field. My point is that when you play a team like AF, with an unconventional scheme, the first thing the players have to understand is staying put. Everything I see on here tells me that the UT players did not do that. They saw a guy running at them with the ball in his hands, lunged, and suddenly found that some other guy, they didn't see, is scooting by him ... with the ball in his hands.

That's a coaching problem.

Our D is fairly young and Airforce took advantage of that. They learned a valuable lesson tonight.

Interesting. Florida's youth at O-line and wide receiver versus Tennessee's youth on the line.

This could easily be a very low scoring game. That would favor you.

I don't know. It appears that Florida has the greatest coach in the country and the best athletes. Should we even show up next week?

Not really. We held Cal to 160 yards or something when we took our starters out. If we play D like we did for the first 3 quarters against Cal, you all might not get anything higher than 14. It COULD be enough for to win ... if it were 2005.

Meyer is a very good coach. I did not anoint him the greatest. But you could admit the man is putting together a solid team and not sell yours out in the meantime, you know.

Show up and play your best. True Florida fans want to know where things stand and we want UT at full strength and playing their best, win or lose.

I would never sell my team out. Just a bit of sarcasm. Of course UT will show up. Whether at full strength or not, this will be a good game.

Well, I think the reality is that both teams are so loaded with potential that if either team fails to put out their A game, then the other will run them over.

I'm positive Tennessee will have to have their best game to win this one. I'm assuming both teams will bring their A game. IF that happens it should be a good game. I can't see either team having an edge over the other at this time. So it will be fun no matter what happens.

The Cal win would be looking alot better right now if UT has beaten AF by a couple of scores.

They ripped Minnesota. Granted Minn isn't as good as they've been but they're still a decent team.

UT's defense is designed, like all SEC defenses, for more orthodox offensive schemes. While Florida isn't Cal.... thankfully their not Air Force either.

How do you figure? UT's offense really hasn't been stopped yet. A low scoring game would normally favor the team with the better defense... and that should be UF by a slight margin.

These teams look pretty well matched but IMO UT is a little better.

My feeling has always been that the home team beneifts from a low scoring game because the crowd affects the outcome more and is never really "taken out" of the game by a flurry of scoring by the other team.

Then I don't know any "true" Florida fans. All the ones around where I live will be PRAYING that our defense plays next week like they played tonight.

I saw a good bit of the 1st half of the game. Florida started a little slow, but once they settled in performed pretty well. Meyer's got to be licking his chops watching all the problems we had tonight with the option and misdirection.

Nah, this Air Force game was trash. No way UF gives us that kind of trouble.

In general, what is the deciding factor between florida and Tennessee?

Who controls the line of scrimmage and wins the running battle!

Hey, this week pick up a book and read!
